I put the odds at less than 2% he's able (or even wants) to eliminate the carried interest loophole. Who here actually thinks he will?

I think there's a good chance he tries it, but 0% chance it happens. Neither the democrat nor republican establishment supports getting rid of it.

Only way it happens is if it's packaged with tax cuts in other places.

But this is exactly why he was elected. I thought. Get rid of establishment's awful little secrets. He needs to go directly to the people like he has already and explain that both sides are thwarting his reform plans.

It shouldn't be a problem for him to get passed once he drains the swamp tbh.

Nah, he just needs to threaten to go to their districts and give them a nickname.

Can a Pres change the tax code without Congress?

The Cons ution says only Congress raise raise money from taxes.

So if Trash whines about Congress not closing the carried interest "loophole", what are people going to do, buy enough come Congresspeople?

Congress is PAID by BigFinance for tax favors and self-enrichment. "people" simply can't outbid BigFinance for Congressional votes.

I know, right? Thank goodness Obama didn't get into bed with the health insurance companies to create a "healthcare system" that doesn't do A SINGLE THING to control the actual costs of HEALTHCARE but forces people to carry health insurance, in contradiction to "body autonomy" when killing babies and lying to elementary kids about bull , unfounded "transgenderism". It's a good thing he didn't get in bed with them, or the auto companies or the big banks he bailed out and hasn't redistributed any of the profits off of that...

I am glad that Boutons is here to keep reminding us that the republicans are the only party that support big corporate, as they obviously were the ones in the White House the last decade...

Freedom as we know it will be abolished if the carried interest loophole is eliminated. That will probably be the argument on the right and the left will nod silently with few exceptions.

You're an odds maker now, and you base these odds on a wild ass guess? Those aren't odds. Those are intuitions.

I'm wiling to wait and see. Trumps is at least not directly on BigFi payroll like Hillary.

Don The Con owes BigFinance BIG for bailing him out, and he will certainly be looking for favorable terms for his un-divested, non-blind-trust businesses while he's in office. CFPB, SEC, banking deregulation, ALL will be signed off by Trash. Then there's gutting IRS even further to kneecap enforcement.

I'll take $100 dollars, 100-2 odds, 2 year deadline. That means you owe me $5,000 if you lose.
