Spurs need to build some momentum after bad loss to Portland and easy win against LAC.

LAL (despite losing to Denver recently at home) is still the class of the West.

However, LAL may be ailing - Kobe sat out game against Portland, and Bynum left early with a bruised hip injury.

Still LAL with an impressive win over the Blazers and I for one expect Kobe back for the Spurs game.

Spurs need this one but it will not be easy. However, Duncan after (mainly) resting vs. Clips will have a huge game; and Hill is giving Spurs what they need along side Parker who is rounding back into shape after his injury.

    Spurs 101, Lakers 96

The Spurs don't need a statement win at this point, they just need a win. Either they're going to put it together this season or they are not. If they are not, it doesn't matter where they finish, and if they are, all they have to do is make the playoffs.

I bet you we still play smallball an Ratliff Never see the court. He's goin to let Jefferson stick Odom, Blair on Bymun, and Dice on Gasol. But Pop is tired of no defense. He's going to run all plays away from jefferson but want him to make a impact standing 25ft away from the rim. Watch an see.

Its really hard to predict which Spurs team is going to show up for the Lakers game. I wouldn't be surprised if the SA gets blown out in the 1Q. It also won't surprise me if the Spurs leave with a win. Hoping for the latter, of course. This will be a good test after the LAC and I think slowly a sense of urgency may be dawning.

This is only a good test for certain players like Hill, Manu, & Dice. We pretty much know what the rest is going to do. IMO

Kobe Bryant: (Ankle) Questionable for Monday

Bryant (ankle) will be evaluated Sunday to determine his status for Monday’s game against the Spurs, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The decision to skip Saturday’s game was left up to Bryant, who didn’t make the call until shortly before gametime. Consider him to be questionable for Monday’s game at this point.

Dude could barely walk though and Gasol didnt play and the lakers got the 22pt lead down to 6 without Kobe. Had Kobe played, that 6pts might have miraculously disappeared and the lost to the Mavs would have meant nothing compared to that one. Its a 2-edged sword IMO. If the Spurs win, then everybody will say that the Spurs are fine and to be patient when most of us know the truth. If the Spurs get blown out then it sucks cause its the lakers and we are at full strength with a team that was suppose to be built(paid for with lots of $) to beat them. At any rate I just wanna see how GHILL does against Kobe again.

Except Timmy, none of our players are "predictable" this year, although Tony looks to be on a good way...

Timmys gonna play hard but on the defensive end Byunm is gonna beat him up, Jeffersons gonna suck, Parkers gonna dribble us crazy, Bonner , Finely, Bogans, if Mason plays their all gonna jackup 3s, Blairs gonna play hard but foul early. It sounds like every game to me.

It's the Lakers. You can expect the Spurs to come out fierce tomorrow. I know Parker is salivating at the thought of Derek Fisher guarding him.

Lakers have come out very strong against teams that beat them earlier in the season..you can expect them to play hard tomorrow, and the Spurs aren't ready to beat a team like that..I'd be surprised if they don't win by double-digits TBH..

It's your choice to be pessimistic, but I'm seing (slight) improvement these last games...
I have a good feeling about this game, the big 3 WILL step up.
But even if we win, it won't means anything about our le hopes...

Bynum and Bryant might both be out so the spurs will likely come away with a win but it means nothing if they have to face the lakers with those guys healthy in the playoffs.

If the Lakers could beat the Blazers IN Portland without Kobe where they hadnt won in ages, then they can certainly beat the Spurs at home...

Yes, because 1 game means everything. Your logic makes no sense seeing as how the Spurs beat the Mavericks in San Antonio without Duncan and Parker and proceeded to lose to them in Dallas with the Mavs being shorthanded shortly thereafter.

I'm just saying that people shouldnt assume that the Lakers will be easier to beat if Kobe doesnt play tomorrow...if anything...they will be tougher to beat seeing as how the Spurs struggle against teams when their star is out...ala the Blazers without Roy...

    Matchups are the key.

Can Blair negate the Lakers inside? Can Hill be the answer to the Lakers' athleticism?

Is Ginolbili still the Laker-killer that they see in their nightmares?

I have a good feeling about this team lately.

I was at the game last night and sat behind the Spurs bench. Their demeanor was better than I've seen for a while.

Even the games they've lost lately have been like the games the old (championship) Spurs used to lose -- when the opponent hits a bunch of unconscionable outside shots. That's they way the old Spurs used to lose (when they did). No defense could have prevented it.

Those losses aren't a bad thing, they can be a good thing. I think they make the team angry and play D even harder.

So the Laker game will be huge. The only thing that really matters is whether a healthy Spurs team can beat the Lakers (and then that they stay healthy).
