good luck getting a heartfelt answer on this one and/or any acknowledgement that there is any physiological/psychological differences between races. Other than in athletics.

The US didn't become an economic powerhouse until after abolition. The Arabs and Africans also dominated the know world for about as much time over the last 2000 years as anyone else. The Ottoman's fell a century or so ago and the last Caliphate was no more so most people don't recognize that truth but it is what it is.
I imagine when Constantinople fell 500 years ago, there were equivalent dip phrenologists who made the same stupid comments.

world domination doesn't always equate to progress...in particular, technological progress. which hopefully will result in cultural progress as well. but until people are willing to acknowledge that there are differences in races, then we're just spinning our wheels at best.
As long as the races want to consider themselves different then there will always be cultural differences. It is still phrenology. White people really like to line breed nonetheless. Conflating people in skandinavia to those in alabama because of skin color is frankly, stupid.
The Ottomans and Moors were dramatically ahead of us in math and engineering too btw. It's why we use arabic numerals. While we were living in mud huts and fighting over the scraps of the Romans who had abandoned Rome, they were at their zenith. The Gauls, Celts Angles, and Saxons that most of us descended from were living in mud huts and eating dirt when the Romans conquered them in the first place.
Do you not think there are differences between the races? There are well do ented differences between breeds of dogs. Why is it not OK to say the same about humans? It doesn't make any of them less important. But it does allow us to move past this bull about trying to shoehorn people into jobs and situations that they just weren't made for.
Not to say that there aren't smart bulldogs that can do different things but if I want a smart herding dog, I'm best off picking from collies and shepherds. Does that make me dog racist?
When humans start systematically selective breeding for traits then sure. Do I think that slavers killing and breeding for several hundred years shaped the local population? Sure. What i don't think is that skin color as genetic marker is universally applicable.
I think it should be viewed like geneticists do in terms of isolated populations and not phrenology.
