Thanks for the link earlier, Drew.

Keldon is a bucket. Getter. He makes difficult shots time and time again.

Woah, Keldon looks special. Yeah yeah it’s the Gleague but this kid has somethings you can’t teach.

He has a MOTOR on him and is just flat out tenacious. Kid just turned 20 he’s going to be a monster in his prime.

both are already legitimate NBA players, they only need minutes.

All 3 of those guys will be rotation players going forward. Luka and Keldon are very young, they will be legit starters at the forward spots

The post pop/LMA, DeRozan years are coming soon, maybe even next year. My greatest fear is that the medium class, Murray, white, mainly don't learn bad lessons. This is why I'm not big on them getting minutes because the minutes this year are cursed.

Keep Keldon away from pop please.

This is a dead team walking, dead coach, dead stars, and a FO who wants to burn it down to begin the new age.

You're higher on those guys than I am.

I'm not holding my breath that Luka will turn out to be a legit starter. I could see his most likely good outcome being like Saric, which is fine for the pick-slot and would be starter-level. But I also think there's decent chance he'll never have a season as good as the rookie year of Brandon Clarke or even as impactful as Thybulle.

Johnson might be more, I'll have to pay more attention to him. He might be on target for a Dillon Brooks type if not better, who has started every game this year and averaged 14 points.

The Spurs are near the bottom of the league in transition defense and spot-up defense. Like 27 or worse in both, last I checked. That is what's losing most of these games for them.

Keldon plays defense. Beli plays no defense to speak of. It's probably better for Keldon if he stays in Austin a whole year. But he would be an upgrade on Beli right now. I don't know what was wrong with his 3P shooting to start the season, but he's starting to get to where I expected him to be on that, too. No reason why he wouldn't be a rotation player by next season.

I agree the odds are Luka never be a starter, statistically a late teen pick is more often than not to

Heck most mid to late teen picks are out of the NBA in 3 years so being a solid backup player is still good. I still think he can be special he is doing a little bit of everything shooting the 3, mid range, and even a little bully ball down low. But please don’t hold his NBA growth to Keldon who should be getting major minutes next year as a starter.

I like every year we replacing bad players we replaced QUINDY, and Poindexter with Keldon and Luka and hopefully we can swing a trade to get us another first round pick and replace Forbes, and Beli next year. And then replace Rudy, and Carrol and keep replacing and getting better.

How do Spurs draft picks compare to the rest of the league... you know, statistically?

Wasn't Kawhi drafted in the mid-teens? Or does he not count since the Pacers drafted him for the Spurs?
Okay. Derrick White was a starter last year, and he was drafted 29.
Kyle Anderson was a starter, and he was drafted 30.
CoJo became a starter, and he was drafted 29.
Blair was a starter for two years, and he was drafted 37.
George Hill was a starter, and he was drafted 26
Tiago was a starter, and he was drafted 28.
Beno became a starter, and he was drafted 28.
Scola was... I don't want to talk about ing Scola.
    Manu 57, and Tony 28.

Do those guys not count because they weren't drafted in the mid- to late-teens?

I'm not sold on Sammich, and wasn't before the draft. But if there's a reason to think he may become a starter, it's the simple fact that the Spurs valued him that highly. Their draft picks totally defy the league statistics.

I was gonna Make this post, but I see his point. I mean do we trust the Spurs scouting as an Empire on the Decline vs an Empire at its apex and assent with the guys you posted?

Many here scoffed at them taking Luka instead of Keldon and some others and judging by how they've performed at the same level they seem to be right.

Luka is Drunkfords pick, his pet project and I believe Keldon and Weatherspoon are the others.

Well if the Spurs can no longer draft, it really is going to suck being a fan.

Murray,White, and Walker were the three previous picks. I think the Spurs were still doing pretty damn good with those two 29 picks (Murray and White), and I still think Lonnie will be as good or better than anyone drafted after him. So I'm going to let myself believe that they didn't fall off a cliff in the draft department in a single year.

I wouldn't have taken Sammich. But I'm not betting against him yet, unless it's with Monopoly money.

If DRunkford was on his game (and Pop) how could they not have traded Kawhi to stupid dumb Sacramento for the REAL LUKA when it was out there they were SHOPPING IT for an Established Player.

Wouldn't sending Mute Cancer to Cali but SUCKRAMENTO(the San Antonio of California some say...maybe its Bakersfield) instead of a ready made team in T Rapt.
What was Sacramento offering for Leonard? I don't remember them being in the mix.

    Draft was on Jun 21st

    Where kings picked

Mavin Bagley III and passed on Luka who was picked by the Hawks at 3 but the Pick was traded to Dallas

    On June 19

Pop had his San Diego POW WOW (can he mend the relationship with Kawhi...answer no...)

But Everbody knew Kawhi wanted to get traded

Donks here were hoping against hope (in Poop we trust ect ect) or They need PICKS young prospects ect

    However

    on

    June 15th

So the Spurs didn't trade that day or the next 7 days

They ended up Trading Kawhi THE NEXT MONTH
You would if your front office SCOUTED THE RIGHT LUKA

But HEY the spurs got Defrozen and set that Consecutive Playoff Record didn't they

I assume Sacramento being in California had something to do with it. You know Pop wanted to send a message. He wanted to send him far away from home, somewhere to the Eastern Conference where they don't have to see him in the playoffs. It's an idiotic thing if you already know he will sign to one of the LA teams anyway when his contract expires, but you know Pop is an idiot

Exactly. Kings are/were rebuilding and trading their hard-earned (or lost) lottery pick and presumably another young player for a one year rental of a superstar doesn't make sense for them. I don't buy that tweet that they "desperately need an established star" - they didn't even end up trading for one, and picked a promising player in a position of need for their core, but ed up as they always do and missed the 20yo MVP candidate. People will twist any story to fit their narrative though...
