Could actually be a failed engine that stalled the craft during the climb or that the pilot tried to return to the airport without sufficient lift to turn the airplane. A missile strike isn't unlikely though, given the cir stances.

Flying during that event anyhow is stupid. Who the decides to launch a commercial flight right after an attack on a superpower in a neighboring country? Not smart. No doubt Iranians were on high alert all night.
