Luka is head and shoulders better than they ever were. They've never had a peak like his.

First of all, Manu isn't a Euro, he's Latino. And second, Manu got mad respect by rappers like Drake and Nikki Minaj who both name dropped him in songs.

Pop curbed Manu's growth when he sent him to the bench though. Also, Manu and TP are surefire HOF. Give Luka five more years of this and a few deep playoff runs before you can say he's better than they ever were.

Urban kids didn't really give a about Nash either. The reason our international players were never as popular as other international players is because ours were character guys who didn't grab their s and talk after dunking on dudes or throw up signs after hitting a trey. Their play was beautiful to pure hoops fans but deemed not flashy enough to kids who want to see at ude, dunks and showboating after made treys (which Curry exploited). Also, our guys played in a smaller market. Yeah, TP ed a teammate's wife but on the court, he was class all the way and that's boring and "square" to kids from the hood. I'm not saying Luka talks but he does play in a bigger market, is young, and...is flashy.

Because nobody liked boring. Heck even the freaking commissioner hated Spurs. They’re not marketable and Pop liked that, so he can capsize in their sleep. San Antonio was really lucky. It was a perfect quiet storm for 22 years.

Luka is a 20 year old superstar ... you can see the fun he is having on the court which both is endorsing ... he deserves it!

Cuban and Pop are the faces of the franchise right now. Cuban is looked at as modern. techo and cool. Pop is seen as on old white asshole who thinks he knows better than everyone else. Urban kids have had their fill of old white assholes telling them what to do when nothing gets better.

You really have to ask why Luka, Dirk were more popular than Manu, Parker?

People are always going to care more about two superstars over two role players. Nobody is rocking Eduardo Najera or Tariq Abdul-Wahad Maverick jerseys.

Tbh the NBA dropped the ball big time with marketing the Spurs. I think that was by design as David Stern really was trying to get the big markets back on track (which he also failed in doing) like NY and Chi.

But this whole Spur players weren't marketable thing is a load of crap. Tony Parker married Eva Longoria who was a huge star at the time. He attended Hollywood parties and all sorts of red carpet events with her. He was voted as one of the 50 sexiest men alive And he had an entire country backing him. The dude was beyond marketable, Stern just didn't put in the work.

Same with Manu. He had some of the most entertaining play of all time. There was always a highlight with him. He had a loyal following in Argentina and is very personable. he also spoke Spanish which literally made him the favorite player to all the Spanish speaking countries and that brings in money for Stern and his global outreach... you know if he put in the time and even bothered to market Gino

Coming from the guy who sucks Load Management's any chance you get this means nothing to me.

I grew up in the hood in Northern California, still keep in touch with people still living there and still in tune with the vibe there.

lol son. Slow down there. He might pretty well end up being better but he still isn't. Don't let this era of inflated individual stats fool you.

uh, you mean options 2 and 3? Did Tim Duncan never exist or something?

Only superstars get that kind of attention, not that hard to grasp. Only reason Duncan wasn't popular was because he was about as entertaining as sandpaper. If you want to be boring and "fly under the radar" like Duncan preferred, you can't turn around and complain when his jersey doesn't sell.

Ever considered that SA is somewhat of a hole compared to Dallas? Thats the whole reason right there.
