Because of the success he has had despite the resistance he has faced. Orange man puts in work. His strategies appear sound on the surface. I hope they pay off for the sake of America, unlike democrats who hope they fail for the sake of their pride.

but what did trump do to change the power structure and ged rid of lobbyists? nothing. he stuffed his administration with the same crop of people who were already involved. his administration is full of goldman sachs people, for instance. i'm not even suggesting that those people dont have insight given their experience, but his whole shtick was about changing that dynamic. he didnt. he just made that up as a campaign tool. aka he conned his way in.
and we know he's crooked because of what he's done in office. constantly trying to disrupt investigations, enlisting foreign intervention from ukraine. he takes his trips to his own golf resort, and when he has to have staff/secret service stay in his OWN hotels, he still makes sure his resort gets paid and bills taxpayers for it. he has claimed to be the most transparent president in US history but look at his conduct during his impeachment and the mueller investigation. no cooperation. constantly blockades. blocking witnesses.
I mean this guy had to go into money laundering because he went bankrupt OWNING A CASINO.
The rift started in the late nineties with Gingrich's Republican Revolution, and the beginning of the Fox "news" network. The steady beat of "outrage" journalism has slowly poisoned the collective conservative brain for close to 30 years.
Add to this mix the toxic effects of gerrymandering, dark money, and the human tendency towards political correctness, both left and especially right, and you have our modern environment.
The right-wing media has for all this time demonized the left, and the left is finally starting to do the same in return.
