Obviously he can't defend like ter but he is a great plus for the 1 position. He is going to transition to a more consistent player.

his jump shot went from his crippling weakness to his offensive strength... the kid puts in work. keep riding him. his priority this offseason will be tightening his handles.

That jumpshot looks absolute money. His next bit is consistency and how to find points other ways when team scout that mis range and completely shut it down

It's encouraging that he's having his best season offensively coming off of that kind of injury.

People did not give him enough time to recover for the acl. You may be “healthy”, but mentally it takes along time to trust your body and go 100% again without doubt in the back of your mind.

He's a work in progress. I don't watch enough anymore, but is he able to direct the offense yet?

He was 3/4 from downtown, and is shooting 39% for the year. His jumper and 3 pointer will open up driving lanes, since they’ll have to play him close.

If he continues to improve 2 years from now this will be one of the best contracts in the league.

imo he plays better as a sg but he still needs to improve 3pt shooting (if he aint improve this he will be another ddr with better defense). White as a pg, loonie as a sf and draft pf/c like toppin/achiuwa/vernon. Keep lma as a starter and mentor.

The main part was Uncle Dennis. Pop was no different from day one of Kawhi to the end of Kawhi. Suddenly, two years into his four year second contract, the goes sideways? If Pop was so awful, KL could have signed his year five tender offer, and been a UFA that next summer instead of signing a lucrative new MAX contract.

The "group" fired #2's first agent (Brian Elfus?) in early 2016, less than a year after the max contract was signed and then the amateurs took over. If I recall the spurs held off maxing KL for a year so that sufficient cap space would exist for LMA. That may have offended the "group". In addition, LMA took shots away from Leonard. Once again offending the "group". The plan to exit was in the works four years ago.

Toppin would be a dream come true for this draft. I'm still high on Luka being our future 4, and a rotation of White/DJ/Lonnie/Luka/Toppin sounds great. To be an effective SG though DJ will have to get accustomed to shooting from deep, many attempts per game. He lets it fly from mid-range now but is still hesitant from 3 - of course, the vast improvement to his shot mecanics since before the injury to now have me confident that he'll get there. What I like about that hypothetical SL is that almost every player (jury's still out on Luka and Obi obviously) can either create their own shot or get passes to shoot the open 3. It's all you need in the modern NBA, along with some length and good defensive instincts.

Next year, in the best case scenario that we shed DeRozan and/or LMA (and especially Pop) and get Toppin, could be looking very nice.

He still has a lot to work on, but you have to be excited. He’s not a PG in the traditional sense, but he is someone who can make an impact.

He'll be better with better coaching.

When he's on a roll and brings the team back from down 10 and there's 6:17 left in the third quarter, with even an average coach he'll be allowed to stay hot, and from that the consistency will come.

Feels like any time a young player is catching fire Pop has to smother the flame.
