See that's the problem with people overhyping Lyles. He's fine offensively. He's garbage defensively. He has 0 shot blocking ability. Spurs need a PF who can do the dirty work on defense and contest shots. Lyles ain't the one. He's a good bench piece, but not a starter

Lyles is a 4, not a rim protector. Obviously he will fail when asked to play the C in defense. He's a complete player, smart, versatile, very good for his salary. He can be a serviceable starter surrounded by a regular NBA starting unit (one true all-star caliber player, a good PG, a rim protector...) Lyles is asked to do too much because the rest of the starters doesn't do their jobs well.

If you want to point at players for this season disaster, start looking at the salary table: DeRozan, Aldridge, Gay... but also to our PGs, White and Murray whom most of us expected to play good defense and decent offense. Coaching has a lot of responsibility too of course.

Players get done, coaches too. And those guys on the court sure don't help cos he lost them. He's just done and should have retired with tIm but people will quickly forget these last couiple years like they forget Hakeem useless end of career in Toronto, Ewing in Milwukee, Malone or Nash in LA or even Jordan in Washington to remember his great HOFer career..

But I guess you know better than HOF comitee that will pick him first round.

Yes, he's having a bad season and just lost the team with players who don't respond and leave it all on the court. But he's Pop so he can't be fired, which gives this pathetic effort we see from these millionaires play to play BB.

He is not a starter and not a Center. He's the worst starting PF in the entire NBA. There are plenty of PF's who can help protect the rim when the Center gets dragged out the paint. The Spurs always had a PF who was able to protect the rim starting, even last season. They even had wings who can do that. Now they don't have either, so the need of a PF who can swat away shots is even more needed.

Also Aldridge and DeRozan are not the reason this team sucks. It's the garbage they are surrounded by
