    ‘That’s just delusional’:

Governors are calling Trump’s bluff over COVID-19 testing

Trump spent much of his Sunday coronavirus news briefing boasting about the country’s testing capacity,

but governors around the nation fact-checked the president’s claims as “delusional” and “totally false.”

he claimed that testing had “rapidly” expanded to “millions and millions of people.”

“It should be a local thing,” Trump insisted, but “we’re helping them a lot.”

But governors from both parties fact-checked these claims as false.

The U.S. is currently processing about 150,000 tests per day, according to the
    Covid Tracking Project.

However, Harvard researchers estimate that the U.S. will have to conduct upwards of
500,000 to 700,000 tests per day to be able to reopen by mid-May.

Testing is needed to identify and isolate new cases and trace their contacts to prevent further outbreaks.

“Every governor in America has been pushing and fighting and clawing to get more tests.”

“The president is simply lying about the availability of all those components of testing —

    the swabs and everything,"

“You can’t get those things. You cannot get them.”

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, said his state could vastly increase testing if the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) changed its guidelines around testing reagents, which are chemicals used to extract and detect samples.

“I could probably double — maybe even triple — testing in Ohio virtually overnight if the FDA would prioritize companies that are putting a slightly different formula together for the extraction reagent kit,”

    Trump’s
    testing czar,

Assistant Health and Human Services Sec. Admiral Brett Giroir,
has also come under fire after
    The Washington Post reported that

he was forced out of his old job developing vaccines at Texas A&M University

    after a brutal performance

Sorry, nice try but still no credit for Trash but again nice try. Hydroxychloroquine was Dr Trash’s medicine shows’ premature ejaculatory magic potion. But I’m sure Trash will pivot to claiming he invented it and pushed it all along.

'At home' study will test if common drug can prevent serious COVID-19 complications

Study participants will receive the drug by mail within 48 hours of diagnosis.

test whether a common anti-inflammatory drug can ward off serious complications from COVID-19 and possibly prevent patients from ending up in the hospital.

"We suspect that early treatment, before the onset of severe symptoms requiring hospitalization, may provide the best chance to improve outcomes.

By the time extensive lung damage has developed, it may be too late to intervene successfully."

Colchicine is a widely available drug used to treat gout, a type of arthritis

The drug works by reducing joint pain, inflammation and swelling.

    yet another anti-inflammatory.

There are natural substances that are powerful anti-inflammatories

and there are lots foods that are pro-inflammatory

That said, with all my nation of spoiled children jabs, Americans are heeding the advice.

It's that ed 20 percent of spoiled, rotten, misinformed Trumpers and Liber ians that are the problem right now.

I really get where you're coming from, but I've also seen the videos of thousands of vehicles in line at the food bank. I have the luxury of sheltering in place (I hate that phrase), but I know a lot of people out there don't have it as easy.

That's essential travel and everyone stays in their cars. I don't see the parallel. Guess I have to see the poll question but I think that would be understood.

Low-cost, easy-to-build ventilator performs similarly to high-quality commercial device

Ventilator could support coronavirus treatment in low-income regions or where supplies are limited

This is why it's going to take a collective effort with regards to charity and aid to help those that don't have the luxury. Those jobs and those wages aren't just going to spring back into existence when the "open up" order is given. People aren't going to fill restaurants, theaters, clubs, sporting events, bars, etc like they once did.

We're also going to have to think about how to temporarily tweak traditional businesses that rely on crowds in some way where they can still employ servers. Transform the traditional restaurant dining experience into a drive-in, like those old 50s diners where the gals on roller skates came to your cars. Theater industry needs to transition to drive-ins. That kind of thing.

Are you really asking me if I'd prefer 500,000 dead and a Biden presidency vs 45,000 dead and Trump getting re-elected?

I'm hoping for anything that works that is already deep into clinical trials, because we're probably going back to exponential growth once the country reopens.

Think Darren was using it as an example of how people are hurting financially right now. And this is something we have indeed have to address. But I don't see how open up will help your out of work waiters/waitresses, bartenders, theater snackbar workers and ushers, retail salespeople? Those industries won't fully recover until vaccine/herd immunity.

Right, I forgot he was in the open crowd for a second. Germany is opening up smaller retail shops now. Seems like a paradox but maybe it's the testing that's giving them confidence.

If this pandemic had occurred 20 years ago, I would have been financially ruined. I know this is happening to people right now and they are desperate.

Temporary UBI. Would probably guarantee Trump's reelection as well.

Yeah $1000 a month per person for the next 4-5 months or until there is a treatment good enough to allow us to fully reopen the country (we're obviously not doing the testing + contact tracing method South Korea has successfully employed).
