    What a weird response.

I asked you about Strike Force's guidelines. You're more in favor of opening up than anyone, so I thought you would know. If you have no idea, just say so.

Uh, no. But, the prospect of opening back up doesn't give me vapors, especially in areas mildly affected.

    Holy .

Republican governors across the Southeast are teaming up to reopen the region’s economy, even as they lack the testing to know how rapidly the coronavirus is spreading.

One health expert called the political decision a “perfect storm” for the virus to reassert itself.

The newly formed coalition includes Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, a part of the country that has underfunded health systems, as well as high rates of obesity, diabetes and other illnesses that amplify the deadliness of the coronavirus.

They will still vote. They are all in right now and willing to risk their lives for the GOP and Trump.

That's all you had to say. I'm fortunate to be living in an area relatively well off when it comes to number of cases. I don't want it shooting up needlessly. How about you?

It's been very slow in my area. Probably because people are aware of it and take common sense precautions.

Anybody here have any interest in going to a movie in a theater anytime soon? No one I know is eager to.
Went to the Drive-In in Ennis, TX last weekend. It was a nice change of pace. But honestly not any better of a movie viewing experience than sitting on the couch.

Mandatory mask wearing was the best guideline.

From what I've seen the number of new cases is ranging from 50-70 a day in the county. I'm not sure that meets Strike Force criteria for reopening, which is why I ask.

We do have several Bill Millers here though.

    Can't stay shut down forever
agree. and if ppl need to eat they need to be allowed to go out and win a living

but governors and orangutans saying stupid like “were opening back up” or “we are opening the evonomy back us” is ing stupid and irresponsible

they need detailed guidelines on how businesses can open up and if businesses violate these guidelines they can be sued the up or fined. then let the business owners and public decide how to open back up

its pretty ing simple, china is doing it. if you cannot protect your customers or enforce they protect themselves then you running a risk of getting fined, sued or shut down

    ing simple tbqh

New California study shows $1 billion silver lining due to coronavirus shelter-in-place orders

enormous reduction in the daily rate of collisions. This means a lot less death and injury and a lot of public money saved.

UC Davis researchers found that the daily rate of collisions in California was cut in half after the order, and

that cut closely matched the reduction in deaths and injuries connected to vehicular crashes.

To this end, the study found that

trauma centers reported a 40% reduction in people seen during this time,

which includes pedestrians and cyclists involved in vehicular collisions.

The savings to the public is estimated at about $40 million per day,

adding up to around $1 billion in savings since the beginning of the shelter-in-place order.

Austin just seems to be on a plateau these past two weeks. I have always been under the impression that the daily new case count should be on a downward trend for a time before relaxing any restrictions. Hence my confusion about statewide relaxation. They opened up a state park right in the middle of one of Travis county's hot spots so it seems dicey to me.

Lots of people crowded around in an enclosed area for extended periods of time is a great mitigation strategy.
