Manny definitely overestimated. I think he went with a too simple deaths doubling every X number of days logic and didn't factor in that it's harder to double big numbers than smaller numbers. That still doesn't discount this is a nasty virus. In our California, our death count has increased (might be due to increased testing) to over 100 per day now, and that's despite the state being the most proactive. Imagine the storm we'd be in if we opened up? Easily 500-1K deaths per day.

I don’t have the link to initial IHME model and am not going to look for it, sorry. The model was terrible, whatever data they used was terrible. The deaths and hospitalizations they predicted were so far off it’s embarrassing, and social distancing was factored in the whole time. Remember all the ventilators we panicked about a month ago?
