So no one is responsible but donald trump. Got it
No. Plenty of responsibility to go around.

Trump is in charge of the federal executive branch. He has been spending his time tweeting and golfing instead of working.

The task force put together by his nepotism hire, Kushner, is laughably amatuer and has no ing clue about what they are doing.

It shows. That is what he is responsible for, especially not gearing up testing capacity, and still no contact tracing to any meaningful degree.

    Why not blame wet markets?
wet markets are not in charge of the US federal response. This is a really really really dumb question.

GOP henchman: “President Obama- why did you SPY on trump team?”

Obama: “To be perfectly clear- we had no idea who was attacking and trying to destroy the USA - russians or trump team traitors? How would anyone know? Look at the damage today- and you can conclude- the russians probably left in 2017- but trump team is still here and the USA is half-way destroyed already- so you tell me- who did more damage- Russians or Trump team traitors?”

It's not only the RESPONSE by Trash and his politicized, anti-expert, anti-science Exec.

Months before C19 was active, Trash had gutted his so-called government's preparation for pandemics.

And of course, Trash's continued MISgovernance, eg pushing hard to re-open, continues to sicken and kill 1000s of Americans.

Who is the "C19 Pandemic Czar"? Is there one?

    there is no Czar-

there is Mike Pence - and you can find him if you dig deep enough into Trumps rectum

pence is there as a FILTER

a FILTER from the scientists who are desperately trying to save lives and give their best expertise to save lives-

but Pence has to take that expertise

and FILTER it and dilute enough - so that his cult daddy boss - will refrain from throwing a temper tantrum

Pence will take that expertise and FILTER it ...and lets say the UNdiluted expertise will save 10000 lives but also cause Trump to throw a tantrum

Pence then dilutes it - FILTERS it

so that ZERO lives are saved

but Trump refrains from throwing a tantrum

    yay pence!

Oh man did you see Trump et al talk in front of that chopper. Kayleigh shows off the TRUMP pandemic plan authored last august lolol, showing Obama's plan in paper with a bunch of revisions and then showing the TRUMP plan all professionally done. WTF, so hilarious. Does he ask his team to publicly kiss his ass each day?

For John Bolton, No Bad Deed Goes Unrewarded $50K/speech

And most vulnerable among us are forced to pay the price.

"When the next pandemic occurs (and make no mistake, it will) and

the federal government is unable to respond in a coordinated and effective fashion to protect the lives of US citizens and others,

this decision by John Bolton and Donald Trump will be why."

—Tweet by Stephen Schwartz, Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, May 10, 2018

Republicans who in 2014 denounced Obama for failing to respond in a cohesive, aggressive way to the Ebola epidemic.

“I’d like to know who’s in charge," asked
Sen. John McCain, calling for a czar to oversee this critical work.

And so, in 2015, Obama created a permanent Directorate within the National Security Council

to prevent future disease outbreaks from escalating into pandemics.

Imagine. A president who accepts and acts on criticism.

Imagine. A professionally led, highest level directorate.

    this Directorate would be,

"…responsible for coordinating the efforts of multiple federal agencies

to make sure the government was backstopping testing capacity,

    devising approaches to manufacture and

avoid shortages of personal protective equipment,

strengthening U.S. lab capacity to process covid-19 tests,

    and expanding the health-care workforce."

    Imagine.

It should be said that despite his desire to cut funding for public health efforts (see "many fathers" above), Trump retained this respected directorate through 2017.

In 2018, though, he made John Bolton his national security advisor.

    Bolton didn't waste any time.

As Jeremy Konyndyk, former Director of USAID’s Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance put it,

"Bolton’s chosen approach to NSC “streamlining” involved

decapitating and diluting the White House’s focus on pandemic threats.

He eliminated the Senior Director position entirely,

    closed the biodefense directorate, and

spread the remaining staff across other parts of the NSC.

    That’s the opposite of streamlining.

Instead of giving the issue a distinct ins utional presence, expertise, and voice in the policy process,

Bolton’s reorganization left it fragmented across other directorates that were focused on other higher priorities."

Expressing concern about our readiness for a pandemic, Elizabeth Warren quickly requested a staff-level briefing on the administration's global public health works.

But she said, "We got sort of a generic reply. We didn't get the briefing."

Even the past master of understatement, Anthony Fauci, gamely told a congressional hearing,

“It would be nice if the office was still there. We worked very well with that office.”

Wouldn't it be "nice" if John Bolton were to donate the entirety of his standard $50,000 speaking fee to a group like the Material Aid and Advocacy Program?

We continue to pay for what he's done.

    Why pay him?

No way for them to walk anything back now. Didn't they say in the first place to not wear masks, then too wear masks? didn't they use faulty tests at the beginning? Didn't they compare this and still do to the Spanish flu? Didn't they also say all hospitals would be overrun?

Its a crazy situation, and to this point no one has gotten it right, from the govt to the cdc and to the individuals spreading or being infected. Everyone plays a part.

This is after they said no one should be wearing masks unless you are a healthcare provider or you have the illness.

They bowed to pressure. The CDC doesn't know whether to or go blind.

It's not like the CDC didn't have a stance on it before and yes, they knew then that some people would have no symptoms, but the point was that the mask does not prevent transmission of the virus. It's a mesh cloth across your face. It's a placebo. It won't even keep dust out much less aerosol.

Why do you expect the CDC to know everything about a new virus right off the bat?

    Explain.

And be specific. You act like you know more than the CDC so lets see something other than subject changes and trying to make it about individual posters or random groups you want to rant about.

Two possible scenarios (maybe more but 2 for now)

    1. CDC was correct, masks are not needed but bowed to political pressure to walk back their statement in "light of new information".
    2. CDC actively advised against a higher level of protection when they did not have the full picture.

2 doesn't make sense. They don't walk into a room with a virus they don't understand with anything less than full PPE. Once they begin to understand the virus, the PPE can be altered. You don't go up on PPE requirements, you go down. Not knowing = use as much caution as possible.

But assume 2 is true. That makes the CDC not only incompetent, but also dangerous.

I don't need to know more than the CDC to understand they didn't use the right precautions if they indeed do think people should wear masks now. They were even telling travelers to not wear masks.

Did they recommend masks during the H1N1 pandemic? They're both viruses so regular masks make little difference as far as protecting the wearer from the virus, which you probably already said.
