Was really looking forward to Trump getting “tough on China”, sucks that it’s never going to happen.
Chumpettes cried their eyeballs out when he was attempting to.

"The new “million mile” battery at the center of Tesla’s strategy was jointly developed with China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd

Reuters reported exclusively in February that Tesla was in advanced talks to use CATL’s lithium iron phosphate batteries, which use no cobalt, the most expensive metal in EV batteries.

CATL also has developed a simpler and less expensive way of packaging battery cells, called cell-to-pack, that eliminates the middle step of bundling cells.

Tesla is expected to use the technology to help reduce battery weight and cost.

The sources said CATL also plans to supply Tesla in China next year with an improved long-life nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery whose cathode is 50% nickel and only 20% cobalt."

America and China are very deeply intertwined.

The military, ALWAYS those greed, paranoid assholes plus hawkish Repugs, want $100Bs more to encircle China in the Western Pacific, fearing China is going to attack US interests in that area.

US-China trade enters new era after overnight Huawei, Foxconn and TSMC announcements

    First,

    you have
the announcement this morning from the Department of Commerce that the Trump administration is going to ban Huawei from using U.S. software and hardware in certain strategic semiconductor processes, a move designed to limit the leading Chinese chip manufacturer from growing its market power and technological capabilities.

    Second,

you have a major announcement overnight from TSMC — the world’s largest chip foundry and one of the only foundries that can handle the manufacturing of the most advanced chips — that the Taiwanese company will invest and launch a major, $12 billion factory in Arizona.

    Third,

you had the announcement this morning that
Foxconn’s profits dived 90% due to COVID-19 and declining smartphone shipments. Foxconn, a Taiwanese hardware assembly company (among many other things), has been caught in the smoldering U.S.-China trade conflict, and even attempted at one point to build its own $10 billion manufacturing facility in Wisconsin with Trump’s felicity only to scuttle that plan entirely in an embarrassing setback.

Meanwhile, the trade deal that had calmed tensions between DC and Beijing appears increasingly in doubt.

And that’s just what happened overnight.

I looked this morning to see where I could buy their stock but they are still listed in Shanghai and there aren't any American ADR listings. They aren't just supplying Tesla...they are building a huge plant in Germany to supply the European car manufacturers.

boycott everything made in China and you'll REALLY feel the effects of the massive hyper-inflation that's happened over the past few decades tbh.

imagine paying $50 for an ordinary plastic sterilite container... oh and by the way kids, here's 10 hugs for christmas this year because we couldn't afford oppressively priced toys for you after spending $2500 to replace the family room tv
    No hugs until 2022 btw

Mexico would end up getting a ton of new manufacturing when it comes to televisions, clothing, etc. if the US-China trade relationship ever broke down massively.

MX was already abandoned with US corps switched to China.

I think Taiwan and Viet Nam, maybe India will get US refugees from China.

otoh, US companies know Trash is ing up the relations with China, and their profits, to pander to his cult mob, and they know Trash is not quite a lame , but certainly a short timer in the dimming twilight of his disastrous term, dimming like Trash's brain.

Biden will undo a lot of Trash's crap
