You don't think this is the protest e already? Probably a combination of protest + bars opened since people in their 20s are making up such a large amount of the new cases.
Dawn Emerick of Metro Health specifically discussed the bar and protest issue saying the tracing isn't producing that data. She suspects we'll see those effects in about 5 days at the earliest. Also, yes to the question about vents.

Overall, the Metro Health Director said this current e can be attributed to reopening, people relaxing, and - yep - not wearing masks.

It isn't helping that a sizable amount of positive people aren't returning the contract tracers calls. So much for Texans doing the right thing.

Don't believe everything that's being reported...it doesn't match what's really happening on the ground. A lot of these hospitals are about to reach max cap...and I don't mean just the ICU...gen med and telemetry...pretty soon they're going to have to start sending people away to die at home.

I cover parts of Central/South Texas. Younger and healthier people (<60 y/o) are having better outcomes than previously reported but the elderly and those with comorbidities aren't doing so well. Typically, healthy individuals are taking between 10-60 days (~12 days) to fully recover --that's with and without supplemental O2.

one good thing about the race riots pushing covid to the back burner is that Texas doesn't seem to care enough to lie about it anymore

So now 33/57 HEB in the SA/New Braunfels area have a COVID positive worker, though they won't say how many workers total. And that's really more of a snapshot of where the virus was ~10 days ago vs where it is now. Looks like we're primed for that really nasty early exponential phase that raped New York, Detroit, and New Orleans.
The thing I think we have going for us compared to NY is the lack of mass transit.

I also think Mardi gras is what got New Orleans bad.
