Sorry to hear. This thing, despite the virus twoofers insistence will be with us for a while.
Good luck, Trill
Sorry to hear. This thing, despite the virus twoofers insistence will be with us for a while.
I don’t understand why this virus can’t be considered by everyone what it really is, a generally non-lethal illness that while not a big deal for most, can and will kill many elderly, unhealthy, those with pre-existing conditions, and occasionally someone in perfect health. Should we be scared of it, yes. Should we take steps to mitigate our chances of catching/spreading it, yes. Is it the apocalypse, no, of course not.
Why does it have to be the worst thing ever or nothing at all to so many do you suppose? I blame social media.
who is calling it that?
Thanks guys. Haven't been around that side of the family for some time, but knew him well growing up and he meant a lot to many. He was a kind, funny, working class family man. He was greying and had his issues with weight and such, but he still worked every day and was nowhere close to the end of his life until he caught COVID. He likely got it from someone he worked with who wasn't showing any symptoms.
He died at home, alone, and in considerable discomfort, to say the least, in his final days. Coronavirus is a problem for sure, contrary to what resident forum re s like thldren think.
I don't think anyone is calling it the apocalypse, and this is something of a sidebar, but I've found myself distrusting CNN, the NY Times, and the like more so since this all started. I'm not a fake news-truther, and don't think they're outright lying. However, I also don't think it fair to say that news coverage has erred towards a sober assessment of the situation. The impression I've gotten, especially over the past month of constant reports of es, is that a lot of media sources have trended towards sensationalism. Which is understandable since that's how they make their money.
thoughts + prayers homie
i think thats been true of cable news for a long time, as well as online outlets that rely on volume/clickbait
Hang on trill.
Fair enough. I never really got that impression until covid, so I kinda hear what johnsmith was saying.
He's calling it based on how people are reacting is what I would assume.
Even the Feds are expecting 18 more months, end of 2021, probably optimistic.
We'll see if Moscow Mitch really kills the Dems' Heroes Act and screws 10Ms out unemployment. CARES $600/week expires 31 July
To repeat: CARES' $70B to wealthy r/e investors is about 115M weeks to the unemployed at $600/week.
on second thought im pretty sure hater has called it apocalyptic
When hater's power is cut for non-payment, he screams "called det ".
Big news ifr for under 70...
evidence suggests the median coronavirus infection fatality rate for those under 70 is just 0.04%.
The estimate throws into sharp relief the lopsided mortality figures for the disease, which has claimed an inordinate number of elderly people across the planet while leaving younger individuals mostly unscathed.
John Ioannidis, a professor of epidemiology and population health at Stanford University, argues in a paper published earlier this month that COVID-19 "seroprevalence studies," which measure infection rates using the presence of antibodies in blood samples, "typically show a much lower fatality than initially speculated in the earlier days of the pandemic.
Other than being a virus with no vaccine that's easily spread and potentially lethal, one of the main problems is the hospital space.
"Abbott says rate of COVID-19 spread ‘unacceptable’ in Texas, doesn’t impose new rules or closures"

Thanks for the no Sherlock response Abbott
"....Closing down Texas again will always be the last option,” he said, later adding he believed the state didn’t need to make a choice between jobs and health..."
It'd be nice to know if he has a hard cut off number in mind. I guess it's pretty obvious he doesn't
Thinking C19 mortality rate isn't so bad
IGNORES
100Ks of "survivors" are ed up really bad, need kidney, lung transplants, supplemental oxygen FOR LIFE, serious CVD events like strokes and heart attacks, immobilized with horrendous fatigue.
"The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Texas continued to reach record highs over the weekend while new cases also climbed in the Houston area.
The new figures come as County Judge Lina Hidalgo and leaders in other urbanized counties have issued orders mandating that businesses require customers wear face masks. Hidalgo’s order goes into effect Monday, though the latest local trends indicate masks “won’t be enough,” said vaccine researcher Dr. Peter Hotez, a professor and dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine....."

What was the high number of the range he reviewed?
Damn, sorry for your loss man.
"According to data collected from UT Southwestern Medical Center on Friday, Dallas-Fort Worth hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have increased by 24% compared with the week before, experts said Monday. Because of the percentage of COVID-19 tests coming back positive, UT Southwestern’s model predicts that new cases and hospitalizations will increase by approximately 20% over the next two weeks...."
