They never changed their tune they just said what I have been saying. General public doesn't understand the data and passes media hype as truth.
This is what they were quoted as literally saying 18 hours ago:

"Eleven leaders of the system’s member hospitals and medical schools said in a joint statement that COVID-related admissions were increasing at an “alarming rate,” stretching the capacity of ICU units.....

If this trend continues, our hospital system capacity will become overwhelmed, leading us to make difficult choices of delaying much-needed non-COVID care to accommodate a greater number of COVID patients,” the group wrote.

    https://www.houstonchronicle.com/new...y-15363724.php

That's not the general public saying that. That's the joint leaders of the hospitals in a direct quote.

You continue to prove my point about clickbait media headlines though. Great news that you succeeded in pushing the gossip.

    Lol

Literally none of those people changed their tune.
Right, so it's only gossip when someone posts something you don't agree with, even if it's an expert in the field.

    You're really bad at lying.

So Hays High School just had its graduation. 600 kids... with parents...

They did most of it outside, but still, the kids stopped social distancing, and took their masks off to talk to each other.

Absolutely 100% that someone there had it. Most probably a good hundred or so people there had COVID (based on 3% gen pop infection rate, just a guess).

Welcome to the superspreading event for central texas.

You can do the math yourself. Figure 97% chance that any given person is negative. take .97 to the 600th power, to get the chance that none of the students had it. each student could have 2 guests.

    .97 to the 1800th power.

Odds are at that 3% infection rate that quite a few of them had it. milling around, clustering at exits. Holy .

Entirely self-inflected wound. Some right wing wad pushed for reopening on talk radio a month or two ago, and that got picked up in their echo chamber until President Lazyass McTweetenstein picked up on it, and pushed the policy, now we are all going to face a huge, predictable, avoidable, stupid e, that is going to damage the economy more than hunkering down would have.

If we had competent leadership, and Republicans were not the ing idiots that they collectively are, we might have had a chance.

    New Zealand had competent leadership.

    RIP Hospitality Industry
    One of many industries.

For BigFinance, "some say" that 2020 is 2007, 2021 will 2008

evictions from foreclosures, of renters, 100Ks homeless,

cash-flow busted property owners defaulting on their bank loans, etc, etc.

I am so grateful that in these perilous times, the American ship of state is under the steady, wise guidance of Don the Con mother ing Trash and Repug Senate.

I get what you mean, but I don't think self-inflicted is the right term -- its not like industry is responsible for our re ed leadership.

Regardless, I'm really gonna miss bars and restaurants

For some places it's certainly appropriate. I know quite a few involved in the restaurant industry and many of the stories in these places are not good to say the least. Not enforcing basic guidelines, no temperature checks, not sending sick employees home, employers giving employees a hard time about sick leave, etc. Some of these places deserve to close down.

Yeah, but what were we expecting? They had been closed down -- meaning, making no money -- for 2+ months. How would you respond if you had, by no choice of your own, been forced to give up your pay check for that long and then allowed to start working again?

I think we are going to have a pretty serious national conversation about the benefits of paid sick leave for everybody. I cannot wait to taste the salty tears of libertarians and the wreckage of the GOP when that gets passed.

I think self-inflected was appropriate. If you want survival of the fittest, back to work full-time x2 until you drop, sacrifice the old, etc, then this is what you get.

Of course it would've made a huge difference to just not deny science and skip reopening steps, but whatever.

Corporate Democrats and the party formerly known as the Republican party sold out the working class a long time ago, and structured our laws and economy around benefitting the wealthy.

    Welcome to the party pal.
