    The Second Great Depression

At least four major factors are terrifying economists and weighing on the recovery:

    the household fiscal cliff,

    the great business die-off,

the state and local budget shortfall, and

    the lingering health crisis.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/ar...ession/613360/

From now until 20 Jan, Trash and Repugs will do nothing to help the non-oligarchy.

The Repugs will leave, YET AGAIN, like in 2009, a godawful catastrophe for the Dems.

And yet again, like under Obama, the Repugs will do everything they can to maintain, increase the pain and blame it all on the Dems

Imagine if we stopped treating a disease that isn't killing healthy people like a reason for shutting down the economy.

150K+ dead, with no end in sight,

daily cases in late JUNE worse than they were in "peak" April

red/Repug states LYING about C19 deaths, saying many 1000s of "excess deaths" in the pandemic, are flu deaths, not C19 deaths.

and many 100Ks of "survivors" are really ed up, some for life

Imagine if America were run by serious, competent pols, rather the s to the oligarchy's BigDonor

The non-oligarchy is hurt the most by the Dems and those who are against school choice. Education is the best way out of poverty and yet people still stubbornly vote for those against school choice. Go protest for school choice and make the money follow the student - that will improve education and then income.

Not to diminish the deaths, but aren't about 1/3 of the deaths from nursing homes? Combine that with whatever high % of non-nursing home deaths had significant underlying conditions.
I'm not saying it's not bad. But I don't believe it's as bad as you think.

It's a pandemic dude... you'll have an economic hit no matter what you do. People both don't want and can't afford to get sick.

They can't afford to lose their homes or lose most or all their saving because ty government is busy scamming them.

And no, shutting the economy down for a glorified flu is not good enough.

You can ignore reality all you want, and call it whatever you want, there's still nearly 130k dead in 6 months, and that's with taking precautions for at least half that time.

Of course they can't afford to lose their homes and what not, that's why this is an emergency, and the government needs to be present, not just for the big businesses.

Even that number is not worth all the destruction. But it's a bogus number as we all know.

Lives over money every time. You can come back from an economic depression, you can't from death.

I keep hearing how the lock down and the economic down turn is somehow killing people--can you point to actual numbers? Because right now the virus has claimed over 125k American lives.
