In particular, he condemned Imperial College’s Neil Ferguson for failing to respond to his emails at the height of the crisis. He said that a flawed response had caused hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of suffering and damage, that had disproportionately affected a younger generation, and which would not substantially alter the ultimate death toll.

When confronted he backed down as was basically laughed at, another reason to STAY in your lane. Ie what you actually research. Suggest, but dont lie if you want to help. There are a lot of non-epidemiologists working on modeling covid-19. I don't see that as a problem. I would judge a model on how well it predicts reality. In that regard, Neil Ferguson's model was terrible.
People have no problem repeatedly citing the rt.live model by the founder of Instagram.
