But Chicago!
Exactly.
And it's a shame, because it dilutes from actual conversation about policing, gun control, criminal justice reform, etc.
Desperation from Lilly white guys is funny.
They're actually wondering why they have continually brought up Chicago for the last 12 years.
They’re thinking orange man is their spinach.
Yeah it's such a phony concern they have. The only reason they bleat about Chicago is to slam on "evil Dem mayors" who've let lawlessness grip the city. Chicago has an uptick the past few years, but they were trending at historical lows before then.
What's the reason for the exponential uptick? I'm going to guess the Fentanyl trade has gotten a lot more compe ive.
Bit of correlation there (obviously more overdoses means more use more sales more market share to fight over for gang member dealers).
Trump was supposed to do something about the opioid crisis. What happened?
The amount of shootings and homicides are concerning. Certainly in Chicago, and elsewhere there's a high homicide rate.
It's really unfortunate it has largely turned into a political gotcha game, because it's a serious problem that merits serious discussion.
Chicago is only 30% black. This is a reflection on their culture.
opioids are trending to become the new crack epidemic. Where there's a high demand for drugs, there's a market to fight over, opioids have the highest demand of any drug probably since crack. The way you reduce the demand is through creating less customers, and that means education, outreach programs, and other social programs. Nancy Reagan's DARE gets a lot of , but I think it was useful in scaring a lot of my generation straight. The crack epidemic started to wind down when we became teens in the mid-90s.
Article was written in 1999. https://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/19/u...its-users.htmlEmbraced by one generation, crack was spurned by the next. The level of crack use has remained steady for more than a decade.
According to an annual survey of drug use among people who are arrested, 35.7 percent of all males over 36 years old who were arrested in New York last year had used crack recently, but barely 4 percent of those 15 to 20 years old had used it.
Trump vows to send feds into cities facing violence, as DHS reportedly drafts Chicago deployment plan
Lol more broken vows coming soon
And I agree with that. No money in the dead poor black people they're constantly crying for supposedly.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. You don't care about dead poor black people either, you've made that much clear, you just use it as a crutch to attack either libs or the MSM (which, in your view, are largely one and the same).
You need that whataboutism to write off your failure, badly.
Where's the whataboutism? And how is it 'my' failure?
You need to make the Chicago failure relative to people with relatively little vested interest in it.
If I were in Chicago, that would not be an acceptable response to me.
Which 'people with relatively little vested interest in it' I pointed fingers to? Where's the whataboutism?
You or I not being in Chicago doesn't make the problem any less important or interesting, since this problematic is far from being exclusive to Chicago.
We should be bringing up Chicago when we want to discuss criminal justice reform, gun control, policing...
Instead it's seemingly constantly surfaced as a crutch to advance some political beef, but there's little to no discussion of what the solutions would look like.
On a macro level, this is their local leaders failing them. Then their state leaders failing them. And sure you can even find failures on the federal level; but the buck stops well before that. You need to stop desperately trying to pass that buck.
How could I be passing the buck when it's you that's pointing fingers, not me?
Lazily pointing fingers is easy, actually discussing, attacking the problem and coming up with solutions, not so much.
Who's primarily at fault?
People that use this as partisan talking points instead of addressing it for the real problem it is?
