Record report of 212 deaths today.

My advice. Stay at home as much as possible. When you go out, wear a mask. Write or call Abbott's office and urge him to shut down ALL non-essential businesses. Stay strong.

"An eye-opening study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said coronavirus cases are a lot higher than the numbers reported in some parts of the country — up to 13 times higher — because so many who were infected didn't know it and unwittingly spread the virus. Now, we're seeing the results of this undetected spread.

Confirmed cases in the U.S. are edging toward 4 million. The virus has killed more than 141,000 Americans. Texas recorded a thousand deaths in just 10 days. That's as many deaths as in the prior three months...."

At hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley, state health officials say 37 ICU beds are available. Hidalgo County is the epicenter.

"Rio Grande City, Texas-based Starr County Memorial Hospital, implemented an ethics committee and a triage committee to review incoming COVID-19 patients, Starr County Health Authority Jose Vazquez, MD, said during a July 21 videoconference call. The committees will determine what type of treatment patients will likely require and whether they are likely to survive. Those deemed too fragile, sick or elderly will be advised to go home. Patients with low recovery chances will be better cared for at home with loved ones rather than dying at a hospital thousands of miles away, Dr. Vazquez said.

"There is nowhere to put these patients. The whole state of Texas and neighboring states have no ICU beds to spare for us," Dr. Vazquez said. The county of 61,000 residents has recorded 1,573 COVID-19 cases and 16 related deaths with 27 fatality cases pending, according to Border Report. As of July 22, 11,461 of 55,263 hospital beds are available statewide, with 1,088 ICU beds open. Currently, Texas has more COVID-19 patients hospitalized than any other state, with 10,848 COVID-19 patients as of July 22......."

Ted Cruz spews disgust at ‘waiters and waitresses’ who he says don’t deserve $600 unemployment checks

blasted waiters, waitresses and bus boys who he said

don’t deserve an additional $600 per week for being unemployed

    during the coronavirus pandemic.

restaurant owners are at a disadvantage because

their staff doesn’t want to work while the pandemic is ongoing. ing duh! no-risk Cruz getting FULL PAY

“I’ve spoken to small business owners all over the state of Texas who are trying to reopen,” he continued, “and they are calling their waiters and waitresses,

they are calling their bus boys and they won’t come back.” Offer them $600/week, duh!

“And of course they won’t come back because the federal government is paying them in some instances

twice as much money to stay home.” back work for $300/week? to risk you health and life?

1000 Texans have died from COVID-19 Texas during the last six days. It took 10 days for the previous 1000 deaths.

According to state health data released Sunday, 5,038 people in Texashad died from the virus. That’s 153 more deaths than the day before and 1,080 more than a week ago. Public health experts have said that reported totals are likely to be an undercount because not all people who died with coronavirus symptoms were tested.

Safe to do when there isn't uncontrolled community transmission and there is adequate testing and tracing.

Closings and shutdowns aren't the enemy, COVID-19 is. If you want a normal life and a thriving economy, your priority should be working as hard as possible to beat the pandemic.

The Importance of Reopening America’s Schools this Fall

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...g-schools.html

I am not in favor of reopening schools. We just signed our kids up for online home school and withdrew them from NEISD. If everything looks better after Christmas, we will put them back in.

Deaths are a single data point. Prolonged, painful recovery, strokes, organ damage and permanent disability can result.
