The Importance of Reopening America’s Schools this Fall

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...g-schools.html

I am not in favor of reopening schools. We just signed our kids up for online home school and withdrew them from NEISD. If everything looks better after Christmas, we will put them back in.
Kids, especially littler ones, will be safe, but the teachers and parents? not so much.

Haven't really seen any plans or guidelines yet that seem practicable.

Texas has far fewer deaths than the USA as a whole tbqh. Truth nukes.
"Does not include probable fatalities" Take whatever the official Texas tally is, and double it to get the actual count. Then go from there.

Texas has far fewer people than the USA as a whole, tbqh.

I agree. I am not sure why the CDC released this. It seems like ammunition for all the people that are pushing to open schools. Before we decided to home school this semester we reached out to our two smaller kids' elementary teachers from last year and they both expressed concerns about reopening. For that reason, we thought it best to pull out our kids. Our oldest is going into 8th grade and good luck making 24% of those kids wear a mask.

Well, you are protecting yourself mainly by keeping them home, and helping to prevent the spread. We all need to do what we can.

CDC did that because, in all likelihood, they were ordered to do so by the Trump administration.

You can't really reopen schools until you have the spread contained. You can't contain the spread, unless you have stay at home and masks.

Republicans won't do either stay at home or masks. They argue against both, here and elsewhere.

Republicans will not, therefore, act to contain the outbreak. Schools will not, therefore, be open in places where Republicans are setting policy.

Pretty easy to draw a straight line there. Republican policy = economic damage = damage to kids education

The anti-science chickens are coming home to roost.

As compared to .... I know its true I would just like a range of dates to compare this is compared against.

Because the majority of Texans are under 50. And the majority of frontline workers in hospitals are under 50. And they are getting were/are getting hit hard.

find any country or state giving strat data by ages and death. Cross with comorbidities.

Ifr for working class and under ifr lower than flu. Use texas and Florida. Lower median age with case. Fatalities not following that age.

Use stats not just raw numbers. Then you will be using science

nope. Covid sucks. I'm seeing older people being a lot more cautious. The majority of teens and 20s I see at the lake are acting like it doesn't exist.

oops. Quoted the wrong one. Answering to wino's snrk.

Why don't you go out and infect yourself? That is needed.
