He still has a ridiculous voter ID requirement. My driver's license is good through next year, but because it doesn't have the star on it it ceases to be usable for voting starting in October, and I can't renew online since I renewed online last time. And there is absolutely no way I'm going to wait inside a DMV for an hour while this pandemic is raging. , I wouldn't even do it back in March when we were at a much lower level of infection than now. Fortunately I can use my passport to vote, but a lot of Texans don't have a passport and aren't going to want to go renew a perfectly usable drivers license right now that's conveniently set to be ineligible for the November election.
The realID deadline got pushed back to October 2021 though

Our housekeepers son in his 40's got it. No pre-existing conditions. It really ed him up. Besides being in the hospital for two weeks and coming just short of going on a vent, there was some serious neurological stuff. He's been in rehab for over a month now learning how to walk again and talk again.
My family member had to learn how to walk again and went through about 6 weeks of rehab. She is in her late 70s and was pretty unhealthy. Saw her last week and she looks almost completely healed which is the good news.

Texas comes clean on nursing home data after trying to hide the ball for four plus months.

COVID-19 infections have exploded in Texas nursing homes this month, with 8,291 confirmed cases through Monday — four times more than the number of cases recorded in all of June, according to the state’s health agency.

More than three quarters of Texas’ 1,215 nursing homes have reported at least one coronavirus case since the beginning of the pandemic, up from just over half at the end of June.

It’s the same story in the state’s assisted living facilities, which reported 924 cases to the Texas Department of State Health Services through Monday, compared with 267 in June.
So far in July, the state has tested residents and staff members at 148 facilities, with 93 more facilities scheduled through the end of the month, Weldon said. That’s about 7% of all Texas long-term care facilities, including nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.

    anecdotal but striking:

Two compelling case reports also suggest that masks can prevent transmission in high-risk scenarios, said Chin-Hong and Rutherford. In one case,a man flew from China to Toronto and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. He had a dry cough and wore a mask on the flight, and all 25 people closest to him on the flight tested negative for COVID-19. In another case, in late May,two hair stylists in Missouri had close contact with 140 clients while sick with COVID-19. Everyone wore a mask and none of the clients tested positive.

This wasn't the argument. The argument was fatality count.

    But

There has been no replicated study or gold standard for masks or no masks being effective against covid.

A couple of the linked studies address that.

Of course there hasn't. It's a novel virus, understanding what COVID-19 does will take time.

Btw, it's false to suggest there is no research supporting the efficacy of masking to reduce the spread of respiratory diseases. There is. There are also preliminary findings suggesting that masking may reduce the severity of COVID-19 infections.

Did you bother to read the links?

That wasn't suggesting anything other than there's no proof either way, yet some claim its science....the same people who claim science is irrefutable.... which obviously don't understand science

    wrong

as I have stated before, science is valuable because the method allows for correction when new evidence is found and tested thus eliminating a previous model

    this has happened continuously

And it will keep happening especially with something as complex as biology which you know nothing about. You don’t even know why biology is complex.

    go sit in the corner

Demanding replicated experiments so soon after the discovery of a novel pathogen is preposterous, though I agree that saying that science is irrefutable (who said this?) is inconsistent with the theory of scientific research.

There's not proof in science the way there is in math or geometry, falsifiability is the criterion of the domain. (Karl Popper) Irrefutables -- unfalsifiable theories -- belong to pre-science or pseudoscience.

For someone who sets such store by science you sure are stingy with your own data set. When are you going to lay your cards on the table? There are many questions from many posters pending.
