I don't mind him sticking around if he plays like Bubblemar Bubblerozen.
Yeah, would generally agree, but even in the 7 games he played in there, he couldn't help himself from shoving a player, getting a tech, pouting, and not hustling back.

He's good for one of those every 7-8 games.

And given how Pop always said the thing he most appreciated about Timmy is that he let him coach him like everyone else, yet he permits that to keep occurring with the regularity of Old Faithful. I. DO. NOT. GET. IT.

So I hear people keep saying it would be smart for him to wait til next year because the cap will be flat this year and he has good money and few teams with max money. However I am guessing next summer the cap will either stay the same or drop. Now they want to keep it flat but how long will owners hold out and not mind not getting as much money. next year with so many teams having cap space could be a good year for it to drop and not effect many teams. Also with the maybe no Fans next year and possibly have a shorter season this will be even more lost revenue. So I could see where the cap would go down next year and not this year.
Teams with cap space. Yes there may only be a few teams with cap space but if he is the best this offseason then he could get the highest amount even if not the max he could get a long term deal and a good salary. Next year there will be more teams with cap space but also players that are better then him. He will go from being a top FA to a second tear FA. Teams wont be busting down the door to get him as there are other players they will be chasing. He could be forced to take less because other teams sign other good FA meaning after they sign they still would not have as much cap room. So even though more teams have caproom after the big FAs are signed there could be less teams with caproom after top players are signed.
his PLay- He is coming off of a good 8 game stretch for him. How many here were hoping he would leave before the bubble to now are glad he may stay and some are even saying to extend him. He had good stats all year but was on a bad team in the bubble we were a decent team with him on it. If he has a bad season next year or shows back how he was at the beginning on this season he would no longer be a team player. If they try to make him a PF it could run him down even more. He will also be a year older and another year to risk injury.
The only bad thing I could see is he has the option to take 27 mil this year. who knows what he could get on the market but he may be able to get close and a long term contract.
Negatives Cap probably wont go up but I could see where it will go down next off season. More teams have cap space but also more quality players are FA. He is coming off a good stretch but who know what his game will look like and he will be a year older and can get injured.
Only positive is he would have 27 mil and who knows what he would get in a new contract.

Maybe Bobby Marks updated his info after July 21, 2020 but:

If this is still true, we will know something by August 20th.

However, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, some of the players who have to make option decisions for 2020/21 have slightly earlier deadlines. For instance, if the Spurs don’t make the postseason, DeMar DeRozan will be required to make his decision within seven days of the team’s last game, per Marks.

    • October 13
      • DeMar DeRozan, Spurs ($27,739,975)
        • Note: This deadline would be moved to seven days after the Spurs’ last game if they don’t make the playoffs.

    Simmer down, fellas.

It probably got changed after the whole global pandemic and 4-month NBA shutdown thing.

There are guys with player options still playing in the playoffs right now (like Gordon Hayward and Evan Fournier)

DeRozan is the perfect example of why this great team is falling. Being tempted to trade for this no talent, ball hog, chucking clown. This no defense, soft as a wet paper bag, get out of my Spurs roster scrub. Leave, opt out, I personally haven't ever been a fan, take your ass back to Toronto, you're not wanted in Texas! You are the iteration of why this team is falling to the bottom.

The main point was you accused me for pulling from random sources. I didnt. It was from the same guy you pulled from. ESPN and Bobby Marks.
