Nobody pays money to see a Coach. I can't imagine a fan saying "Hey I got tickets to see the legendary Coach Pop coach a game. The Spurs are not good but watching Pop is very exciting." Fans are pretty stupid but even they are not wiling to pay money to see a losing team.

Only 2 things will get fans to pay money for tickets. You have to have a winning team or you have to have an exciting star player. In some case you can have both. I look at my home team the Hornets. They have the GOAT MJ as their owner but they are at the near bottom for attendance. No one cares that the legendary MJ owns the team. The fact is they suck and are not fun to watch and hence can't sell tickets. The knicks tried hyping up Phil Jackson as their GM. The fans bought into it short term but once it became clear that they were going to still be a lottery team the fans turned on Phil. Like I said before even the dumbest fans will not pay money to see a losing team.
