Not at all. Why even ask that? It was almost a category 5 storm that caused a ton of wind damage. The storm surge wasn’t as high as expected because the eye missed certain bodies of water.

    Glad the damage sounds minimal.

If it went to the west or east it would have been bigger for sure. But at a random unpopulated spot on the TX/LA border, not much. Plus Harvey was ridiculous in that it stayed in the same spot and Hoovered back and forth

Lake Charles is not unpopulated and the damage is pretty catastrophic. I drove back yesterday. Looks recognizable. Many homes and buildings destroyed. If the eye shifted a little west, it would have caused massive flooding in the city though it did submerge the coastal town south of it.

Not diminishing the impact, just saying if it went east or west it would have been much worse in terms of total damage and total life lost. I live on a random coastal town myself and no one would care if a hurricane hit my town. But a town up is San Francisco, and a town south is San Jose

That being said, prayers up for the affected and for the families of the lives lost. Not sure if this is the best place (Public Good) to donate to get money there, but I sent some there yesterday hoping it helps.
