Besides being wrong it's also a waste of money. You put someone on death row and they spend 20 years in there filing appeals and whatnot all the while you still have to feed, clothe and house the individual.

In the end, it costs the government more money to put an immate to death than it is to keep said prisoner in jail for life.

There is, or should be, a bigger picture for the GOP than the next election. There are plenty of Republicans in CA, OR and WA; leaving them without federal help because Democrats control the state government is a great way to lose Republican voters for good.
