I disagree with your dismissive notion that mayors have impish levels of powers.
The old saying that all politics is local rings true all the time.

The riots called. They said you're wrong AF.
none of that has demonstrated that mayors have the power to upend capitalism
Sure it did. The free market was disrupted. Chaos was the (dis)order of the day.
that has nothing to do with seizure of the means of production.
and even if i take your free market claim at face value, that is still not related to capitalism vs socialism. socialism can still function under a free market. markets arent unique to capitalism
CHAZ didn't happen

CHAZ wasnt the means of production![]()
Dunno about that. But many people's means of living were certainly affected or halted.
thats not what the means of production means
look. the concept of the "workers' seizure of the means of production" would basically be the workers of a factory taking ownership of the factory... the materials, machinery, etc., such that they no longer work for the "owner" but themselves become owners. the "seizure of the means of production" could happen on either a micro or macro level. on the micro level, the workers of that specific firm would be owners of that firm... on the macro level, the public at large (typically, the state... ostensibly on behalf of "the people") takes ownership of firms, generally.
has nothing to do with people squatting in the streets![]()
I specifically didn't use the term means of production, and you still shamelessly played that card.
You're predictable / desperate, Lite.
you directly responded to my comment, QUOTING me using "means of production" and mentioned CHAZ as a counterpoint
look, you're free to disagree with policy decisions, but just declaring everything you disagree with as "communist" or "fascist" is just ridiculous
That's a fair point that my argumentation hasn't fully observed that track.
I think you're simplifying means of production to a textbook factories definition.
The reality is people's individual means of living (of production) is their ability to sustain themselves.
CHAZ overtook many people's means of living and they were enabled by city govt.
If you think unchecked that's not going to continue to factories and the like, then that's silly.
it's all good
i dont think im being unfair with the characterization. if your criticism isn't being specific to the "means of production" then its not really a criticism of socialism/communism, it's just a general disagreement with some policies. and you're en led to have those disagreementsI think you're simplifying means of production to a textbook factories definition.

to the contrary, i think the way you've been arguing is just being fast and loose with words and just claiming that things you dont like = socialism/communism
rightwingnutjobs are so easily excited over some "gotcha" bull of absolutely NO consequence
...
Pretty sure a candidate for office wasn't part of that plot. Where's the comparison here? What if the skirt had a swastika on it? Pop art?
mein neger
Which socialist policies will she ins ute as mayor? Forced collectivization? Reeducation camps?
I was compariing actual intentions/actions. Seems to me plotting to kidnap a governor, shoot cops and overthrow state state government poses a greater risk to life, liberty and our form of government than running for mayor on a lefty background in Portland, OR.
(whatever political damage she suffers from her stupid fashion choice is deserved, imo )
