Media has been stoking that fire since 2016. They can't wait for another George Floyd so they can make it go viral. Counting legal votes shouldn't be controversial or partisan, but here we are.
Over how long? And all either caught or suicided by cop or otherwise.
I mean, I don't think isolated incidents are out of the question, just that a coordinated attempt, like, say, the Oregon militia standoff is unlikely to end well for the perpetrators.

People going ape like in Portland and D.C.?
Over the next five to ten years.
The Republican party just stress tested their coup strategy, in the meantime they'll suppress voting and gerrymander their asses off. If they win in 2024, they'll try another autogolpe when they face reelection. It just might work. I doubt they'll face any negative consequences for trying this time, so why not do it again?

Voter I.D. is "vote suppression." Right from the Chinese propaganda playbook.
"Voter roll maintenance and hypertechnicalities"

MAGA crew is so cringe.
States rights!
while also ignoring that the cons ution allows the states to decide how their own electoral votes will be cast... instead having some states file lawsuits to instruct other states how to carry out their own elections
"Ridicule is man's most potent weapon."
Typical Saul Alinsky tactics
I think this election clearly shows that their coup strategy through the courts is a giant loser. So that's not going to fly. Not today, not later on.
The non-judicial strategy must involve the military and LEO, and I don't think either is as corrupt as the political class.
I just don't see it. Not a coup. Frankly, it's too early to prognosticate much. It's also entirely possible that the Dennisonism theocrazy becomes a fad.
the concern imo is the massive popular support for the they're trying to pull
there appears to be no consequence for politicians who are supporting a suspension of democracy
Obama worshipped rules for radicals, learned all about it in Chicago

“Trumpism is an autocratic ideology with fascistic markers comprised of an amalgam of extremist groups, conspiracy theory groups, militia groups, white nationalist groups, nationalist groups, proto fascist groups.”

You use no small number of them. IMO you're a way bigger Alinskyite than Obama, who essentially governed as moderate Republican.
The Rules[edit]
- "Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have."
- "Never go outside the expertise of your people."
- "Whenever possible go outside the expertise of the enemy."
- "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."
- "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."
- "A good tactic is one your people enjoy."
- "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."
- "Keep the pressure on."
- "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself. "
- "The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition."
- "If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside; this is based on the principle that every positive has its negative."
- "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."
- "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. "
why stop at suspension, tbh? once you go down that road, a monarchy/dictatorship is right around the corner.
I dunno about massive popular support. I don't think every trump voter supports the ongoing stupidity. I'd like to think it's a very vocal minority. I mean, don't forget he lied about acting like a sore loser too, and if you're a trump voter, you're extremely gullible as it is.
About political consequences... well... this isn't new if we're frank. The whole votingrepublican.jpg meme is not that big of a meme, is it?
With a better case, better lawyers and a better candidate, absolutely they could try it again. One coin flip is not predictive for the next.
I think if one thing is clear, is that the rebuke has not been close. I don't think this is a matter of lawyers or candidates, but a matter of laws.
I do expect them to keep chipping away at voting access which is a strategy that has worked well for them, and prevents these unsavory moments post-election.
Bend over, I'll show you unsavory moments.
I've seen them the past four weeks without having to bend over, tbh...
det coping
If this wasn’t that popular among republican voters we’d have seen more senators/reps condemn this
Why are the courts tossing these cases then?
