The only ones who will end up with big trouble in this whole story will be Trump's legal team, for all the defamation, lies and shenanigans they pulled.

the entire purpose of appointing a special counsel to an investigation is where there exists a likely conflict of interest in the DOJ itself. hiring somebody as conflicted as powell to run the investigation would have the exact opposite effect that the statute intends. it would have been akin to having loretta lynch serve as special counsel for the russia investigation
it would be nothing but PR, wasted funds, and comedy to see all her attempted prosecutions get thrown out just like her civil suits
