'San Antonio Gunslingers' would have been badass.

The effort is commendable, but these two sentences early in the article are problematic.

"When the Chaparrals got new owners, they relocated to San Antonio in 1973. That was when they entered the NBA."

First, the Chaps didn't get new owners and move to SA, rather an SA group of investors leased the team from its Dallas owners in 1973. When the team was an instant hit in SA, the SA group bought the team from the Dallas group outright.

Second, the Spurs didn't enter the NBA in 1973 when they moved to SA. They entered the NBA in 1976 after being an ABA franchise in SA for three years.

Russ is right - leased ABA team is bought by group spearheaded by Billy Joe McCombs and Angelo Drossos. The 1976-77 season was the first NBA campaign.

The Spurs becoming an NBA franchise in San Antonio was beyond fortunate. That was a very different time in the 1970s when the NBA was a second tier professional sport.

I really like the initial NBA logo the Spurs had. The black road uniforms with "San Antonio" as opposed to "Spurs" were pretty sharp.

Getting nostalgic I guess. Back in those days a playoff berth and winning a series or two was fantastic. I'm spoiled and jaded now.

WTF is it with White and his toes/feet? Imagine sitting out 6 games in a row cause of a sprained toe.

Upside to it all is that logically Vassell should get minutes but you never know with Pop.

Man does that mean no Derrick for the next five games? Or can he join in the middle of the trip? I don’t know the Covid protocol.

Sucks about DWhite, but it’s good to see what Murray/Lonnie can do during this.

This team just can't get a promising young player who doesn't need to be babied.

It seems doubtful he'll even be able to handle something like 32 mpg for 75 games.

There’s must be more to that story, when a G-Leaguer is burning more minutes than the starting Center just a season ago. I’m not the biggest fan of Lyles, but he’s a big body who could’ve help with the rebound. Sometimes Pop is just so stubborn like the Bryan/Beli experiment that everybody else could see it wasn’t working.

Yeah, it's not like Eubanks offers more size than Lyles. Their measurements are nearly identical.

The latter is obviously more skilled and should have received a look vs the Lakers.
