At least it was a contact injury. If he was just running and it broke that would spell doom for him
contact injury? What with the floor? He could of broke it on that initial cut to the basket. Dudes feet are glass. Very disappointing as a fan, hope he recovers fully and can play out this contract.

He was blocked by Gasol and hit the floor awkwardly so that seems most likely, but yes it's hard to tell exactly when the injury occurred.

I mean he wasn’t touched by anyone. Looks like he was expecting contact and landed awkwardly. Playing such a large and physical Lakers team for his first game back may not have been the best idea.

could’ve sworn I saw his left toe bang the ground as he went down.
But man Derek White needs to drink some milk and check his vitamin D levels

    This.
    And will power.
Philbillie Rivers quarterbacked the Chargers in the AFC Championship Game six days after suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee. Damn near beat the Patriots too. 14-12 into the 4th qtr. Ultimately it was the Cheatriots 3 touchdowns beating the Chargers 4 field goals. Bolts just couldn't punch in a TD.
sorry, guys to disappoint you. That's neither the adrenaline nor will power to play with a torn ACL and meniscus. It's strong tigh muscles that makes it possible. When there's no bruise it doesn't hurt. It's possible to play a few months with a torn ACL. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's possible.

The way he fell looks to me like he had broken it before. Seems like he wanted to avoid his foot touching the ground.

Time to change shoe sponsors, Derrick.

It's also time to get Jones in the mix. He looked decent in garbage time, and this team needs a real point guard...badly.

Could've used Quinndarry as big guard. I'm still not sold on Tre until he makes those jumpers. He reminds me too much of Avery

To me, it looks like Derrick just was not ready for the landing. He was a bit out of rhythm he whole game and n the layup he was expecting to get hit on the arm or body but then get his shot blocked while its still in his hands which causes him to land awkwardly.

Good news for Vassell, which I think is ultimately good news for next season. Time to start watching more of the top 2021 draft picks' games.
I'm guessing 29 wins this season & another lottery pick.

Darn, multiple people mentioning this, but milk makes your bones weaker, not stronger (do some research). I hope the Spurs aren't getting him to drink Milk and/or giving him calcium. However, if he's drank a lot of milk/dairy while growing up, that is the very thing that could have made him susceptible to fractures. He also broke his wrist in his rookie season. This could all be coincidence and not dietary related. Hopefully it's the former.

I'm confused. You said milk makes your bones weaker but you want the Spurs to get him milk?

That’s why I was fine with the Spurs not giving him a new contract until end of season since he is always hurt and missing to many games. Really wanted to see him be able to play a whole season and see if he feet could hold out without causing him to miss more games.

Obviously a typo. You couldn't work that out looking at my previous posts on the subject.
