You can see Lonnie get down on himself on those blown fast breaks. Half his problem is mental. Over thinks...
he's too scared of finishing. He has to try to take it to the rim and once the defender commits he can dish the pass or go up

man let Lonnie and DJ work on fast breaks for a whole month. WTF. That's the 3rd 2-on-1 in a row that they couldn't finish
This is probably what their version of "working on fast breaks" looks like, tbh. Shortened season, no training camp, pandemic in the middle, not a lot of opportunities for that sort of thing. We're seeing growing pains from a young team, it's normal and good and hopefully they won't be making these mistakes next time.

Having said that, is there any statistics on the amount of lobs/alley-oops every team has during games? The Spurs feel IMO like they should be 30th in the league by a wide margin. I've watched nearly every game this season, and haven't seen a true 'oop yet I think. Insane, especially considering how many young players are on the team. I can imagine Pop shaking his head and screaming at players when it does happen in practice

Is some role player gonna have a career shooting night against us every single game?
that's by design. Spurs try to shut down the high % shooters and if they give up shots it has to be a low % shooter. Since that guy is left wide open most of the times, he will hit most of his shots.

At least he doesn't annoyingly clap his hands like some g league bum who somehow found himself in the NBA and turned it into one of the biggest con jobs in sports history.

yea we don't do a lot of oops, unless it's the Aldridge curls to the rim and White throws him the lob play. We used to run that for nephew a lot too. They should run that for Lonnie every now and then

One thing I miss about Fathead is that he'd always throw the oop on the fastbreak

Yeah, underrated aspects of lobs is that it's just as hard to throw them, as it can be to finish them. It's a two-part thing. Hopefully once White comes back, he can start throwing some oops to our youngings - Lonnie, Keldon, even DeMar can all finish off with a dunk easily.

That’s a good looking confident three by Lonnie. That’s going to be his biggest problem in his career, confidence.

That is EXACTLY the kinds of shots Lonnie should be taking, and making. Guy can be MPJ-lite on offense, his jumpshot is damn near unguardable if he's confident about getting it off.
