Great deal for the lions.
Seems like a desperation move for the Rams. Their FO really sucks

They’re mortgaging their entire future for a shot at an NFC Championship Game next year
If Stafford even that much better than Goff?
Bad news for my team though. Hard to win the division with the 4th best QB in it. That 7th spot is gonna be wild next year. It would t surprise me if every team in the NFC west made the playoffs next year
staffords definitely an upgrade to goff, but that compensation is pretty wild
wonder wtf Watson's price is gonna be ... good thing BOB isn't around anymore or else he'd be gone for a 3rd
I don't want to give up the 12th overall pick. Our secondary and offensive line need to be retooled anyway. Draft QB and groom behind Jimmy for a season. We will continue owning this Division
Lions get a starting QB who is only 26 with Super Bowl experience, AND two first round picks for an older guy who wanted out anyway?
Rams have the dumbest FO in the league. They haven't had a first round pick since Goff and Gurley and both are gone now. Traded every last one away. Their only first round hit has been Aaron Donald, and that was way back in 2014. The year before they had a premium pick and spent it on..... Tavon Austin. Lol.
I don't know what's dumber, the Rams' front office or McVay's timeout / game management, tbh.
Lol don't worry, Watson and Prescott are still available for the 49ers...
Oh, and Rodgers is still available, the 49ers should go get him... send Bosa and Jimmy G back to their home in Wisconsin
Humpty Dumpty is gone, my friend
Yeah this trade makes zero sense to me...statistically, they're basically the same quarterback. Obviously Goff was in a better situation that probably inflated his numbers, but no way is Stafford worth two more first round picks
I agree with everything in this post. Even though I like you since it's spurstalk, I just want to say that you're a f@ggot for sh!ts and giggles
My thoughts on the trade:
- Los Angeles was obviously in a no-win situation. McVay and Goff's relationship had gone completely sour, to the point of no return. Goff wanted out & McVay wanted to move on. The reason the Rams had to give so many draft picks was because the tremendous over-inflated contract that Goff had. It was NBA-esque. They save a ton by trading him instead of releasing him. They didn't even want him to start.
- The Lions new GM was the one that drafted Goff, so it makes sense to see why this trade took place. Stafford also personally asked to be traded to Los Angeles. Reportedly seven teams offered first round draft picks, including Carolina, Denver, San Fransisco, Indianapolis & Washington.
- Goff has a good resume at 26 years old, hitting 4600 yards twice & taking his team to a Super Bowl. The past two years have been dreadful for him, as an outsider fan living in LA. The fans don't believe in him. His stats suggest at his age he would have a breakout year coming up, but it is as if he has reached his peak, prime to regress. Fumbles and interceptions are a problem for him. You can typically tell if he's going to win with the game on the line solely off his facial expression before the drive starts. You can argue that he has had high turnover at receiver (Watkins, Cooks), but he still has a ton of weapons. Draft capital obviously doesn't matter to LA - they've made the playoffs five out of the last six seasons without a first rounder. They are a QB away.
- Stafford is no doubt an upgrade, an Ironman, and has big game experience, dating back from High School & college. He needs to prove he can lead a team and win PERIOD. But he has the coaching, organization and personnel committed not only to the Rams, but to winning a Super Bowl. Stafford is only 33, is top five all time in comeback wins, and will be the face of LA for the next 7-8 years.
I feel like a lot of people look at & judge Stafford based on his years with Calvin Johnson. After Johnson retired, he remained one of the most consistent, profilic passers in the league. People asking if Goff and Stafford are on the same level clearly lack understanding of the position.

Stafford’s numbers are actually surprisingly weak after that 5000 yard season.
Clearly numbers don’t tell the full story with him, but this isn’t the Rams trading the kitchen sink for an elite QB, this is an upgrade from slightly below average to above average. I don’t think this move gets them in the Super Bowl.
Stafford will do for the Rams what Phyliss did for the Colts
Stafford has had injury problems for awhile now
Where do the Colts go from here? If not Watson then who else? Wentz?
McVay had to make the move. Hobbled 49ers just swept him and will be back with vengeance.
Heavy score for the Rams.
If Goff ends up doing well for the Lions, great. IMO dude does not study hard enough, just not into it enough. Pulling top shelf LA pussy (preoccupied) and surfer dude laid back mentality.
2021 season Rams should rock with Stafford.
Now it's the Detroit sistas?
I think Watson is definitely worth trading the farm for but if not, the draft is heavy with QBs in the first round. They might have a shot at the Bama QB
Eh maybe. I just don't see them as a Super Bowl contender still though.
When did they start doing deals before postseason over?
They will fight over him.
