They might not be the managing partners if they sell enough of their stake. MP is who has the biggest stake.
This will be the first nail in the coffin. A few more seasons with DD, LMA, and Gay and we might just be in Vegas by the middle of the decade, bois.

No. The lease runs to 2032. They’re locked in until then.
2033 it is!!!
I was under the impression that since the last collective bargaining agreement NBA owners make more money than ever with some shared income from the television rights deals (LA being the largest source), which seems to be the main income source, and so prices for teams has skyrocketed. And so under normal times it is much harder to lose money. Of course, now, during the pandemic, without their additional cut of food and beverage sales from the stadium, that it's worse.
But yeah, you hinted at the taxpayers paying for an arena that the owners basically get to make money off of for pretty much all events that are held there...yeah, it's annoying to me, too. If anyone has better information, let me know.
Field of Schemes – sports stadium news and analysis
Everything you need to know about moochey / user owners acquiring stadiums from taxpayers is covered.
letting hedgefunds to own teams who only care about profit/loss for shareholders then actually fielding a winning team to compete for championships...
just look at the sports teams own by hedgefunds...turn to
They have an exit clause around 2027 iirc.
my username will finally make sense
are you confusing CVC with QVC?
Nope. Their original lease was up in 2027, but they extended 5 years for the refit of the ATT a few years back. There is no out clause, and never has been one.
Capitalists never invest and not want control.
FWIW Robz, Spurs to Vegas would be < 1% chance of happening.
Vegas is pretty firmly Laker country and Busses would lose their if there were any rumblings of the Spurs encroaching.
Austin is a much likelier option but I doubt the Spurs ever leave SA.....I just want Vegas because it'd be easy AF to finally catch some games![]()
The city of San Antonio and the Spurs have such a great working relationship that they probably wouldn’t even seriously consider relocation or even moving up to Austin in our lifetime. There is a better chance of building a new downtown arena by 2040 than them possibly consider relocating by 2050 from what I have heard.
Having an arena between the 2 metro areas, say like San Marcus, would bring in season ticket holders from both markets, as they coalesce into 1 market. That wouldn't be bad. Just the traffic. That would have to be fixed.
Moving near the San Marcus outlet malls...that could happen.
austin move has been in the works since holt kids took over...........it makes complete sense no one wants to live or play in san antonio..........dont know why it took this long to make the 1 hour move that takes u from not being able to sign free agents to an instant free agent marquee destination............
No one gives a about Austin. It's a small town compared to marquee destinations for FA which is LA,NYC,Miami,Houston. Those are the top places players want to go to. I never understand the Austin crowd in here that believes if the Spurs moved to Austin then suddenly their FA problems would be solved.
Interesting it seems like then Vegas would never even get an expansion team due to the Buss' not wanting the compe ion.
Is Austin that much better than San Antonio? I'm not in the US, so I am legitimately what to ask/know a bit more about it. It doesn't seem big compared to places such as LA, NY, Miami etc. Would it really lure more free agents compared to San Antonio?
austin is a mix of la/ny combined............yes it would instantly lure more marquee free agents as in the durants/leborns/currys not finleys or dices or jeffersons.........san antonio is the most boring city in texas.....the spurs are hindering their success by not making the move
As someone who's outside of Texas, no Austin is not a big draw as an FA destination - the big draws are Miami, NY, LA. After that, it's money...
What are they gonna do? Move right next to that homeless village off of riverside dive? Austin sucks if they move its best they just move out of state.
“Austin is a mix of la/ny combined” Lmaoooooooooooooooo shut up you have never been to Austin.
Lol Yall are discussing opening a new arena when our current one isn't even filled 1% and the future doesn't look bright as far as full capacity seating in the AT&T center.
As well, tax payers should never be looked at to provide the capital to build/lease a stadium. That's such a bs scheme by billionaire owners and a multi-billion dollar corporation like the NBA.
