On the Court FG 3PT REB AST PF PTS
    D. DeRozan SF 3-10 0-2 3 6 1 10
DeMar has taken a backseat this game. He is now 4/11 for 12/3/6...not great, but he hasn't been the issue. People when he takes all the shots, but also when he defers.

Meanwhile, Pop is obviously letting the young guns try to run the show...and Murray/Johnson/Walker/Vassell are a combined 11/36. The Spurs have cleared the bench with 3 minutes left

But yeah, let's just trade all of our vets and let these kids take over because obviously DeMar is the one holding them back

Both games would have been GS blowouts if Wiseman wasn't injured.

SpursTalk: JUST LET THE YOUNG PLAYERS PLAY! THEY CAN SCORE 30 EVERY GAME!

Young Players: Get extended minutes against the Warriors bench, miss shots, bumble passes, and commit dumb fouls.

But please, remind me again why the Spurs don't need someone like DeRozan to steady the ship.
Because DeRozan doesn't do anything other than keep us in mediocrity. You trade DeRozan and (a) either the young guys take a step forward, or (b) we tank properly. Win/win, tbh.

    Notes:

-Keldon's hit the wall. He's got a lot to work on this summer. I still believe in his potential just because he's got the hard part down (tenacity and athleticism).
-Lonnie giving a big fat nothing per usual. I've almost lost all hope in him. Time to try Q for those minutes?
-Typical ST move would be to bash DJ tonight. He wasn't the primary problem today.
-Give the Warriors their due. They may have some scrubs, but they're backed by a legendary player of all time.

Man what an ugly game. How much popcorn did they eat before the game. Nobody can hang onto the ball
Spurs offensive spacing has been off with the starting five for sure.. dubs not respecting Demar or Keldons shot
from outside so hanging back clogging lane. Obviously Jacob also a non factor.

Our guys need to go back to practice. Vassell and White (yes, White) are the only two I really trust with their shot. Murray's getting up there too, but we don't need him to have that role-- he needs to constantly attack.

They need more 3pt shooters. Mills and Gay can't be the only players willing to take 5 3s in a game. Should start with #10 who needs to channel his Toronto days and start launching them

Mills is the best shooter on the team and you pick those 2 and don’t mention him? Or you’re talking about the best shooters out of the younger players?

No, but seriously... they need more two-way players. I hesitate to say they need 3 pt shooters anymore. We need to get away from 1 dimensional guys like we have been these past couple years.

    Obviously not our best effort.
Not sure you can draw too many conclusions from tonight’s game.

    My observations:

    - Rudy Gays shot is starting to come around. Of all the expiring contracts, this version of Rudy Gay is probably most desirable/most likely to be moved at the deadline. Again, the Spurs probably stand pat but a contender such as Boston, Philly would surely have at least an inquiry to his availability.

    - Trey Lyles brought some juice. Tease or turning the corner? Has some useful attributes. Defence on the interior was a concern so unlikely he could ever play the 5 which limits his ceiling. Situationally (and if a Gay trade ever occurred), he could be helpful in certain lineups.

    - Steph Curry’s consistency. He makes 2-3 plays a game that continue to dazzle. Say what you will about his team, the KD situation etc. but this guy is amazing. Will never be another like him. He makes the game easier for everyone.

The Dubs are simply better than us no matter how you slice it. In today's game, you simply have to be ready to shoot and play the 3 ball in every game. This Spurs team isn't built to do that consistently and that lends itself to these blowouts.

    Nope, you can't.

The Pistons beat the Nets tonight. Do people really believe the Pistons are better than the Nets? (even without Durant)

The Kings are up 6 over Philly, and they might win. They're on a hot streak, but at the end of the day are they better than Philly?

No, people want to trade the vets so we can improve our chances at a lottery pick and a much-needed chance at a potential superstar.

You can say "Today's NBA" about our wins vs. the Nuggets, Clips and Lakers too. Can't have it both ways. I just don't think we have enough firepower to be a consistent threat in today's NBA. Is it unreasonable to have those doubts?

It's fine and dandy for you to have your doubts lmao I'm not a thought police. I'm just trying to be the voice of reason / perspective amidst all the whining and chicken littles. To your point though, we don't play like those modern teams. So I wouldn't go as far to say that the wins were as fluky as other games.
