My power has been going off and on since about 3am. Currently it's been off for about an hour. 9 degrees outside. I may turn on the grill later.
Be ready for it.

AUSTIN, Texas — In addition to leading to several crashes and many school closures across the Austin area, the winter weather has also caused power outages across the area.
According to Austin Energy, the average of all outages from the beginning of the icy weather has been 183 minutes. It has 15 forestry crews, as well as 30 crews, 75 personnel and 40 trucks during the day, and 16 crews, 40 personnel and 25 trucks overnight.

These outages are separate from planned rotating outages requested by ERCOT as electricity demand exceeds supply. For information on how the rolling outages work in Austin, click here.
Here's how you can check for outages in your area:

Good thing Abbott was able to get a quick approval of his emergency declaration plan from Biden. Trump would be jamming it up and demanding favors + bootlicking from Abbott before sending federal help.
Yep, good to have a President who looks out for all Americans and not just those who live in states that voted his way.
I had power just long enough right now to see my thermostat say 49 degrees before it went out again
Lying ass sticks, power out for 15 minute intervals my ass
our house hasn't lost power that I have noticed yet. phone is out.
Lucky for us the heater is gas, as is the oven, so we can run the heater and not feel too bad about the grid. our little subdivision is pretty new, and seems to have power a lot of the time when others don't.
Been keeping a large kettle of water on the stove running for when teh power does go out.
Some newer gas ranges still require electricity because they have electric shut-off valves for the gas that have to be active in order to get gas flow to the burners
Ah. Good to know.
We have some stainless steel growlers that can be used as water bottles. worst case scenario we head under covers with a half-gallon of 150 degree water each.
best case scenario we have lots of water for tea.
What was the plan supposed to be? Turn off the power every couple of hours all day? I have lost power five ing times, for 30 minutes a couple of times, 45 minutes the other three.
Mine has been out for 8 hrs.
Yeah Austin seems to be super ed by ERCOT. Austin Energy turned off everything they could and are told they can't turn anything back on.
hmm. still haven't lost power. the phone service did come back on tho.
Water pipes? ok?
12 hours without power here.
Sylvester Turner is right, it wasn’t so much the shortage as a massive power outage. Power plants tripped off last night, so we got prolonged rather than rolling outages.
Water pipes?
Water and gas are good so far, thanks for asking.
Good deal.
We have a fireplace with lots o wood, so temp in nice.
But all electric, so no water for the toilets or a shower.
My consistent outage has been off for an hour on for exactly five minutes. Just enough to microwave a cup of coffee. Can't even fire up the keurig. I went to my car to charge our phones.
No water is a drag, but I’m glad y’all are warm. We are all layered up and under blankets here.
Sidebar: my neighbor just went “wakeboarding” in the street towed by a truck.
Pipes are freezing up on the windward side even though we were dripping it. Outdoor spigot there froze up before the snow yesterday with a cover over it. Heat gun didn't unblock it but did on the back spigot so letting that flow.
Austin? Sorry you gotta deal with that . I have had power go out six times so everytime it does I crank my heat to 80 and turn on a space heater too. I know it's ty in the big picture but I need my house as warm as possible since it's going to be 8 tonight. Wish I had a fireplace.
sounds rough. hope you guys get out of this sooner than later
You got mimosas though, it all evens out.
