The initial blast knocked out 30-40% of statewide generating capacity. Until demand goes down it’ll be hard for utilities to restore service.

At his point there seems to be little to do besides waiting for the weather to change.

Major outages happen in Texas about once every ten years. That' s too often.

I agree that the consumer side can be improved for energy efficiency too, it's simplistic to put all the emphasis on public utilities and the regulators, even though they bear the primary responsibility for the debacle.
