What happened is that I have notifications come to my phone about the Spurs...so I only read the notification headline and not the actual article because I didn't expect them to get into detail since the reasons were personal...so armed with only seeing the headline, I made this horrible post
Makes sense man. I mean we are all guilty of not reading articles. I feel you on the team hate though. Last year was the first year in a LONG LONG time I just stopped watching Spurs games and didn't give a about them. It wasn't that they were losing, I can handle that, but how they just stuck with Forbes and Mills and Marco and Lyles and didn't start White and DJ sucked. No youth was developed at all. And to top if off, we ended up with like the 11th pick. After all that and to just end up with Devin Vasell didn't seem worth it to me.

A lot of truth in here. The Forbes/LMA/DD team was awful, worse than the Dark Ages with Walter Berry in my opinion.
I don't know how I ever managed to watch most games of that horrible, horrible season. You just knew Forbes and Beli were closing out games alongside DD, and that their no-D blackhole would cause us to lose the game every single time, and it never failed. I can never call a Spurs fan who watched through that season "fake" or "fair weather" - safe to say it was our worst season in recent history, perhaps the worst since the Admiral got to SA (not like I was around to watch those early teams, but could they have been worse than this? I don't think so )

I beg to differ those teams from 09/10 were much worse the only difference is they had HOF's carrying them. However watching those teams you knew they were just first round cannon fodder.

The 90's teams led by DRob and Sean were the ones that you just knew every year they were gonna get 50 wins and lose in the 1st, or 2nd round without fail.

    Boy... Timmy changed everything.

What you said is exactly how I felt last season. It was the first time in years since I became a fan that I didn't follow the team in one way or another (I didn't watch 85% of the games - I just didn't give a about the team). I wasn't able to watch games before 2004 as I didn't have access in my country, but I still followed the games either via live score updates and sometimes radio feeds if I could find them. I started watching the Spurs around '93 and became a fan straight away. I even followed the whole '96-'97 season, and even though that team was worse record wise than last year's team, I loved how hard they played. They just had too many injuries and just didn't have a lot of offensive talent, but they played hard on the defensive end (if last year's team played defense the way that '97 team did, I would have watched more games. I was able to handle losing that year because they showed grit despite a huge lack of talent). Getting Tim Duncan after all that seemed like it was somewhat earned in a way. They may have finished down the bottom, but IMO, they deserved the number one pick due to how hard they played compared to the other bottom teams.

Last season sucked. The defense was paltry, and like you said, no youth was developed and we ended up with a lower lottery pick. I really like Vassell, but IMO last season was a completely wasted season for multiple reasons. They should have developed the youth and also should have ended up with a higher lottery pick. I still don't even want to think about last season. It still gets me mad thinking about it.

    I couldn't disagree more.

Those teams had Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili on them. They both had injuries and were physically hindered those seasons. Tim's knee was bad in '09 and he had to learn to readjust his game the following seasons. TP had to carry the team in the playoffs with Manu being out in '09, and then Manu broke his nose the following year and arm the year after that. I'd watch those teams any day of the week over last year's team just for the simple fact they had Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili on them.
