Lonnie has got to be more agressive. You can't be given 26 minutes off the bench, especially in his role, and give us 5 points.

Devin looks like an eventual starter. But who do you take out? DJ? White?

Devin's here for four more years... No problem with me earning his way up. He can be a super bench guy for now.

He is really starting to remind me of Corey Joseph during his time here. Just steady, underwhelming production.

You talking about the first what, 5 pages of signature SpursTalk Cliffjumping™ after a slow start to the game?
    Cliffjumping is ST's favorite passtime.
I will freely admit that I was one of the people "cliff jumping" (I call it concern) over his slowness and early ineffectiveness.

He picked it up a lot after those two back - to - back three - pointers, but he still looked extremely slow out there at times & that is concerning. In particular, with a guy with so many lower body injuries/issues to start his NBA career & who wasn't known as a speed demon coming out of college.

The Magic suck so you gotta take this performance with a grain of salt until he duplicates against better compe ion.

And on this issue I'm more than willing to eat crow and hope he just needs to work his way back to game shape.

Imagine playing teams like Orlando and Cleveland four times a year instead of twice. And the EC has even more of them.

He doesn't need to be speedy or athletic. His IQ is what puts on him on another level. Right now (well, the first half), he kept making dumb mistake after dumb mistake.

I think I understand your draft philosophy now. You find (and value) athleticism over everything, which is fine, we were there at one point. It's how you mess up and pick players like Nassir Little because of his physical tools. Also explains why you're quicker to give Bamba all the benefit of the doubt, and are harsher with slower, high IQ players like White.

The Spurs did what they were supposed to do in this game, so I'm trying not to be overly impressed.

Hopefully, the rhythm carries over to the next game.
Considering our history against the worst of the league these days, this is a great win honestly.

He gave the team 12 points last go round & still ended up benched the entire 4th quarter.

I want him to be aggressive, yes, but he also needs to be better with his decision making and more focused on defense (not excusing his benching in the last game either).

And he has two ball - dominant players in Gay & Mills in the second unit that will gladly take all the shots. I want Lonnie to just give better overall effort (less mental mistakes & poor to terrible defense) while picking his spots offensively.

And I think this game was less about a lack of aggression and more about keeping the ball moving while feeding the hot hand (Gay).

With White's injury issues, there's always reason for concern. Pretty sure majority of the fans know his worth and the rest are just trolls still trying to do the Murray vs White schtick. Most of us are rooting for him.

    Incorrect.

White is clearly much, much better than Bamba (who isn't "athletic" per say but long as ) & I love his game a ton. He smart and has a high bbal IQ, but you still need to be able to get past your defend at the NBA level. Otherwise people will start sitting on your outside shot and daring you to drive.

And his slowness is concerning since he's a guard which means drive - and - dish & penetrating the defense are essential to getting teammates easier looks.

Not hard to understand, really. And, yes, having more athleticism coupled with high IQ players is likely the quickest way to contention (+ finding a superstar).

    Again,

That's not his game. Never has been. He's effective without having to be that. You're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole because of what your perception of what a guard should look like in your head while ignoring all the great things White does do when he's his normal self.

It's like saying the steak is bad because the mashed potatoes aren't good.

A fully healthy Orlando team would probably beat us and i'm saying that to those who disrespect Orlando now. We still have a lot of issues.

How would you know that? The Spurs haven't had a fully healthy team all season. They've played a few games when all the main guys where there, but they weren't all in game shape yet at the same time. A fully healthy Spurs team could be really good, or it might not, but I don't think it's a given that Orlando is superior.

But I thought a DeRozan/Aldridge less Spurs team would lose to everybody.

Spurs actually had impressive wins without Demar/Aldridge when Lonnie had to be aggressive. I mean the young core really could play run and gun like the bubble games, but they choose to walk the ball which is infuriating. It’s self-defeating with all the speed just to stop and set-up half court offense. Like Lonnie has very good results when he penetrates and sucks defense, like Elliott mentioned, good things happen
