They’re not drafting 17+17 guys in the next five years. They’re going to be packaging a lot of those picks together to move up, or to trade for a top flight guy.

The picks are from a lot of teams that figure to be drafting in the 20s, and because they have so many, may be more open to trading. For example, could move the Clippers and Phoenix picks in 2022, to move up a few spots this year if they want. Or package three firsts plus the Horford contract this or next offseason to bring in a top flight guy.

SGA is certainly a keeper, and they have other decent pieces on the roster to help build around.
we'll have to see what presents itself for them

Exactly. But can’t put yourself in a position to make big swings if you have zero assets. Every other team would kill to have that stash, even if none of the picks figures to be amazing outside of the Houston picks.

Love LDN but he isn't what he used to be. His contract, however, is very tradeable.
Why are teams looking to trade him all the time? I thought he was doing well in Philadelphia? What is the knock on him if his contract isn't huge?

obviously but when presti adds another 2027 protected second its just to the point of comedy

He's more icy than hot these days, and they already have plenty of defenders.

Oh OK, thanks. I thought he was still shooting decent in his icy hot cycle. I guess not. Didn't he hit something like 9 threes in a game earlier in the season?

Oh well, I'm off to bed. Enjoy the deadline guys. Hopefully the Spurs do a ton of trades and get rid of all the vets.

So tbe Lakers, Clips, and Heat are still after Lowry... if the Clippers get him they'll probably have to unload Morris for draft compensation to send to Toronto... at least he wouldn't be knocking down 3's tonight.

It’s 2+ complete rosters, plus whoever you want to keep from your current roster.

We’ve drafted 6 guys in 5 years, and there’s a lot of work involved in developing just 6. Now, raise that to 17. I think a good problem to have would be maybe 8-10 first rounders.

1 hour left until we can move on with the fantasy that Spurs will do anything other than buy LMA out and (predictably) run with the vets they have while letting them walk for nothing in the summer

I'd love for the Clips to send Morris packing because that is the " you" that guy deserves.

You mean, 1 hour until the trolls come out of the woodworks full-force... I can already picture them, self-quoting stuff that was never argued against just to tell eeeverybody how right they were, and the usual flinging. Will be fun, tbh, more than the deadline at least

This, he ditched us for money, knowing in advance that he Knicks would flip him to a contender.

The likelihood of landing on a superstar is already hard enough as is. The more picks gives you more chances to find the next franchise player. Spurs are using the development approach because the guys they draft don't have star ceilings and they don't have the luxury of picking in the top ten because Pop refuses to outright tank.

According to timvp spurs playoff picture this season is
Yeah, I get the team's perspective. I just don't agree with it. Letting Rudy go would give us invaluable insight into Luka's progress, which will be important to know in the off-season. My opinion, again.

Considering how often Spurs end up on the losing side of a trade, it's probably better we don't make any moves

When was the last time they won a trade? George Hill for Kawhi almost a decade ago?

Utah getting a 50% three point shooter from Toronto for a 2nd round pick, while teams won't even pick up PATFO's phone calls

At some point, they’ll actually be under pressure to not use those picks in a draft. If they called me this summer, wanting to move up, I’d take a stand at 3 firsts. If they called me next summer, the stand would be at 4 firsts.
