Astrazenca is the only vaccine that does not present the e protein in a pre-fusion stabilized state. Also the only one to use a chimpanzee viral vector.
Called it. Loser vaccine. There will be more.

You can read all about what that means here

    https://fancycomma.com/2020/09/20/pf...%20the%20virus.

    tldr

The pre-fusion e protein is stabilized so that it cannot change its “structure.” This can be thought of as a safety feature of sorts.

Germany restricts younger people from getting astrazenca vaccine on safety concerns. Puts 60-69 year olds to the front of the astrazeneca line, encourages them to be the guinea pigs for the youngsters.

If the risk differential favors vaccination over not-vaccination, why not? Is the level of risk way out of whack for a vaccine, What's considered a generally acceptable risk of serious adverse outcomes for a vaccine?

(Aside: in a sense we're all still Guinea pigs, the number of FDA approved COVID-19 vaccines is still zero.)

    There already have been more.
They just have not gotten this far into production and into the arm.
So which one will be next?

And what do you base your claim on? Snake gave you an article on how this one is really different.
Pick another, "called it guy" and then explain why you chose it.

People will react badly to all the others. To some degree.
We all react differently to very basic foods, and food is not shot in a very direct way into the circulatory system totally bypassing the digestive system.

I guess what I trying to ask was how does someone assess risk accurately and make the best decision with the presented variety of vaccine products?

Not gonna lie, I mainly I go by own hunch and the good advice of others. Pretending I know how to do vaccine risk assessment for myself or anyone else would be conceited and absurd. That's what health professionals are for.

    I don't know how frequent these clotting events are -- 1 in 100k? 1 in 1M?

Covid deaths in the US are over 1 in 600.

I'd roll the dice with AZ, any day.

    Thats the purview of stats.
And knowing how to assess your own risk starts with other vaccinations you have had.
Most of us are good to go because we just dont know.
Its also pretty obvious some people have had more severe reactions than others to the 2nd dose in two dose vaccines.
If you react badly to any pain medication if you are put under that needs to be noted so you dont go that route again.
I know anesthesiologists ask a mul ude of questions that indicate risk factors before use with certain drugs.

Hater has his unknown ways so I wait.

Others may fall simply because they are harder to produce and keep and work statistically about the same as "easier" vaccines.

My program to rapidly register for appointments at HEB isn't working anymore. Since everyone is eligible starting today, the web traffic has been insane. Your best bet is to try their site at odd hours, for example 3am Saturday.

Its seems there may be some program manipulation trying to get in as its odd how similarly vaccines at HEB are closing up.
I dont know enough about this stuff but the patterns that render those appts as filled seem fishy. Have a friend in Austin having the same problem.

If you're willing to make a road trip, try searching only J&J and expanding the search radius. It would be a one time trip.

I kept seeing appointments in Falfurrias.

A friend in Austin end up taking an appointment at a CVS in Victoria once she saw how everything was filling up in front of her eyes.

By hunch I'd take the J&J shot, in real life I got Moderna. Second dose kicked my ass a little bit.

I fall into to this category, I never had a reaction to any vaccine until a few days ago.

First symptom besides lethargy was the chills, I woke up shivering in bed.

It wasn't that bad for me. It basically felt like nothing the first day. I got kinda sleepy. Then it was like a low grade flu for a day and a half, then my fever broke and I felt basically ok again.

    I find this part interesting.
I almost hope I react so you know your body has responded.
I dont get any reaction from the flu vaccine, or the last time I got the tetanus.
