The stupid, it burns...
"In 1889 and 1890, Congress added North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Washington, Idaho, and Wyoming—the largest admission of states since the original 13.
This addition of 12 new senators and 18 new electors to the Electoral College was
a deliberate strategy of late-19th-century Republicans to stay in power after their swing toward Big Business cost them a popular majority.
The strategy paid dividends deep into the future;
indeed, the admission of so many rural states back then helps to explain GOP control of the Senate today, 130 years later."

The Federalist went there: "DC is a 3rd world hole"
DC's median income is $126,000
58% of DC residents have a bachelor's or a more advanced degree. The US median for this education level is ~33%
Income Inequality in DC Highest in the Country
By Minahil Naveed • December 15, 2017 • Income & Poverty
The District has a higher level of income inequality than any state in the country, with households in the top 20 percent of income having 29 times more income than the bottom 20 percent. The bottom fifth of DC households had just two percent of total DC income in 2016, while the top fifth had a staggering 56 percent.

so then, may I put you down for 3rd world hole?
even if we were to stipulate DC is a third world hole, how would that render it less worthy of voting representation in Congress?
perhaps the two are related, eh?
The Twenty-third Amendment (Amendment XXIII) to the United States Cons ution extends the right to vote in presidential elections to citizens residing in the District of Columbia.
If they want state representation, move to a state.
I thank DMC for suggesting the possible link between lack of reprentation in Congress and racial inequality in DC.![]()
but the median income!
Bottom's up
your silly opinion is as welcome as anyone else's here.
cheers![]()
DC isn't a third world hole, man.
The consensus on here for the last 4 years has been the whole country is a hole
I'm glad it's better now
please speak for yourself
therefore, be selfish and let god sort it out
makes as much sense what you said
DMC to DC: "if you want real representation in Congress, leave."
Poor rich white people
A long-shot bid to pass legislation that would make the District of Columbia the nation’s 51st state got a little longer on Friday.
Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia said that he opposes unilateral action by Congress to make the nation’s capital a state and that he believes it needs to be done through a cons utional amendment. He said prior Republican and Democratic administrations thought the same thing.
“They all came to the same conclusion. If Congress wants to make D.C. a state, it should propose a cons utional amendment,” Manchin said in an interview with the West Virginia MetroNews radio network. “It should propose a cons utional amendment and let the people of America vote.”
Earlier this month, the House approved a bill strictly along party lines to make the District of Columbia a state with one representative and two senators, while a tiny sliver of land including the White House, the U.S. Capitol and the National Mall would remain a federal district.
