Guys I figured it out, Pop is trying to run Patty mills into the ground so that once the olympics start Australia won’t be able to beat team USA lol

Games like this shows why I wouldn't want the Spurs to waste their pick on another center. I think we're fine with both Poeltl & Eubanks (and Dieng, if he stays).
Dude, we need a #1 option who's on a championship level. If there's a guy who can reach that level who's a C (or anything else), you draft him and trade whoever else to make it work...

The bigs you describe cannot be attained without a top 5 pick. I don't remember the last #1 option big that wasn't drafted top 5. In fact, there aren't many #1 option big these days anyway. Embiid.... That's it. Davis is more like a #2, he never carried a team by himself. The Spurs aren't finding a #1 option Center with their #13th pick.

Edit: I forgot Jokic but he's an exception to the rule

People need to let go of their Tim Duncan/ David Robinson fantasies. The NBA has moved on from centers.

Always great to see the Lakers lose though.
Lakers are close to stumbling into a play-in game.

Great to see Poeltl's improvement at the line. His shot looks so much better, it's amazing. Still want him to integrate his off-hand for stability, but it's like night and day otherwise.

Welp, Spurs prolly locked themselves into the play-in with tonight's win, but with the schedule as tough as it is coming up who knows.
Plus Pop will try and throw some games to remind us who runs the show.

I am really glad to have the real Derrick White back. He has found his rhythm at a good moment for the team.

Who else thinks Zion is the next star to bolt to another city? I'm guessing the Knicks....
I think either the Knicks or Lakers.

I really don't see the Pelicans change their fortune. They're a badly constructed team with poor chemistry. Only Zion is dragging them forward. The rest are looking for greener pastures, except for Brandon Ingram, who is just stoned.
Should edit - it’s 13 to play, not 17. Spurs have a brutal schedule down the stretch, but even if they go something like 3-10, the Pels will have to go 8-4.

Most important remaining game is against the Blazers for the H2H tiebreaker. The Spurs should already have one more game in the loss column and the tiebreaker locked up per the NBAs L2M report and given Poeltl has turned into Steve Nash from the FT line

Mavs and Grizzlies both own tiebreaker, so even tougher to catch.

He reminds me of Barkley. Too heavy and powerful for smaller players, too quick and skilled to be guarded by most bigs.

That’s not cool of Zion to show that much giddiness. Small markets will always be a doormat for this diva superstars

Hmm, if Dieng stays, I'm with you - if not, we should definitely try to nab a prospect of shooting C to have in the pipeline. It's just too good of a combination/complimentary opposite to Jakob's no-shooting, defense-oriented play to pass up on, not to mention it opens up the court and (if Pop were a better coach) gives the coach a chance to mix up the playstyle when outside shots aren't falling from your guards. Maybe with the second round pick? I haven't done much scouting at all on this upcoming class tbqh...

What a seamless transition would have been going from Tim to Jokic as the franchise player.

but ST experts told me he couldn't shoot FTs for , was overpaid, and would never improve
Just proves he is a lazy piece of during the off-season. There was literally no reason for him to start the year shooting 22% from the free throw line in empty gyms with no fans. The only possible explanation is that he put zero work on it during the off-season. I’m glad Spurs coaching lit a fire up his ass. Not every player is extremely dedicated to the game and need to be hounded on. Jak is this type of player

Yeah he was the biggest steal ever for a second rounder. Especially if he wins MVP this year. The dude would’ve been perfect player to have after Tim retired. Kawhi probably would’ve stayed too seeing as Jokic loves passing the ball and spreading the floor. He seems to have zero ego and just a love for the game.

Sorry for the delay in answer KA, been away from the forum for a few days.

This is a wacky take tbh. There's literally no proof whatsoever that he put little work in the offseason, like, not even a hint of it. His FTs being bad at the start of the season could've been a mental thing, an undisclosed hand injury that's healed now, a "yips" situation (especially with the burden of knowing other teams will force you into that situation, it's much more daunting than posters here make it seem). If he truly had been a "lazy piece of ", why didn't the rest of his game suffer? His finishing is as good (or as bad depending on how you feel about Jakob ) as it's ever been, his screen-setting also, his athleticism/conditioning weren't visibly affected (when it should be the first thing to be hampered by lack of training; much more so than FTs, which are performed standing still and are a muscle repe ion thing that he's been doing his whole life).

You're similar to that poster that just insists Jakob is "lazy", even when stats show the complete opposite and how he routinely contests the most shots of anyone on the court, sets the most screens and gets screen assists at elite rates, etc. You've just convinced yourself that it's true that Jakob did not workout in the off-season, without any tangible proof, and whatever Jakob does is a reinforcement of that idea: when he was shooting bad, it's because he hadn't practiced, and now that he's found his groove, it must be because of the coaching staff for some reason (you don't think they were "lighting a fire" on him when he was shooting 20% from the line?), and totally not because he got out of his own head.......

    Weird.

Check out his stats to begin the season vs now. He sucked the first month. Even Dejounte admitted as much. He wasn’t even that good defensively like the first 15 games. There’s no yips to start the season. Nobody was fouling him on purpose to start off the season bc nobody had ever shot 18% from the line before. Dude looked out of shape and like he didn’t work on his game at all during the off-season. You are the only person here who says he didn’t start off the season bad

I'm not saying he didn't start the season bad - simply that starting a season bad =/= being a "lazy piece of " and doing no work in the off-season. Is it so hard to get that point? Do you seriously think every player who has a bad start to a season means they put in 0 work previous to it, with no other external factors being possible explanations? Legit question, tbh.

E: anyhow, it's behind us now. I'm glad Jakob's playing well, whether he "put in the work" before the season, or during it. The improvement is marked. I just don't understand the gripe of users to run with whatever personal story they make up without any confirmation, and repeating it as gospel (just like Jakob "injuring" White recently..... I'm starting to notice a trend here....).
