Interesting that Vassell is so high on pnr. And Derrick White is so high on Iso's

Lonnie getting a lot of his shots on spot ups as we know but what is interesting to see quantified is his cuts figure. Needs to be more active off ball in looking for opportunities to flash to the hoop. Surprising to me to see Derrick and dejounte both so high on cutting, I wonder if there’s action getting into sets that registers as a cut on synergy.

Patty interestingly enough as we’ve seen is often used as a screener on the 3 point line, often just as a decoy to get himself open for 3.

Keldon next year I want to see pick his match ups and try to put his back to the basket. He’s a bully, he’s tenacious in the paint, and usually in the restricted area he’s too much for most wings and forwards to handle. He’s cutting and finding himself in good spots more than most, but a little post up could be another wrinkle in his game when the driving lanes aren’t open.

you also see Devin Vassell is not being groomed as a spot up shooter. Tasked to handle the ball frequently, and when he doesn’t have the ball he is super heady in finding the right opportunity to get himself open with a cut. I’ve been impressed with his ability to make reads in the open court off a defensive rebound and often looks to make a long outlet pass if possible. His IQ and awareness give him a lot of interesting upside as a passer. Numbers here definitely support conclusions a lot of us have made watching the games.

More than anyone I think Lonnie Walker will benefit with a clearly defined role. He’s been made to be a spot up shooter for a lot of this season but doesn’t particularly move without the ball well or read defenses. He’s low on the pecking order as a ball handler but much of his potential is derived from his down hill athleticism and pull up game. He needs to make mistakes as a ball handler and learn through them. He needs consistent touches to do so- and with next year being his last before RFA I expect the roster opens up for him a bit and he either sinks or swims.

Probably a result of very small sample sizes on those play types, respectively.

Ones that stood out to me are White being so bad as PnR ballhandler and Poeltl not being above average as PnR rollman. Those are certainly linked together, and while I thought Poeltl's low number could be because White missed so much time, White's PnR ballhandler number shows that he might have been dragging down Poeltl's PnR rollman number, not vice versa.
