Dumb ass...
Maguire and Shaw know each other on United, thats why you play them together. Shaw is a must play for England as is Maguire. This is part of the reason 0 goals given up (event though Sterling made an awful pass that Meuller should have scored on.
And Shaw made the steal and the pass that lead to the Grealish mediocre pass to Kane (Kane did a good job of twisting his neck) on what should have been a better ball in. Only Grealish could have got that wrong and he almost did.
btw... I love Grealish and think he should start, but... sorry, he was in good spots, thats what you give him today. He was in position. He should be starting and then taken off late as he was hurt for such a long time and cant go 90 minutes. But he is the most creative player on England.
MaGuire and Sterling were by far the most aggressive players on England. MaGuire actually went forward and passed it out of the back taking pressure off and setting up moves down the field. Sterling directly challenged players; these two took a huge amount of pressure off England. Hummels completely foiled Kane for most of the game. Not Hummels fault Kane scored, but Kane did eventually work his way into the game late 2nd half and made some open-up passes that were crucial. This needed to happen because Maguire ended up practically dead tired in the back.
Another thing to note:
England is at a huge disadvantage passing out of the back with Pickford. Neur is so much better, its embarrassing for England... the contrast in that ability was so obviously huge in Germany's favor. It makes it so much easier to move the ball up the field when the goalie can hit players almost at the midfield line. Instead, England require MaGuire to supply that for them and he gets very worn down ramming the ball forward into channels.
Other observations: Shaw and Sterling are the most fit players for England. Shaw looks more like a LB, but watching him play all year... he is very good at what he does. And tireless. And all left footed...
Summary.
This game goes either way if Germany makes some shots. Draw as far as who really is the better team.
And all you guys who think these National teams should look like club teams... smh.
These games are never to the level of club games, they are all about National pride, not about really good soccer.
