Rudy is the perfect match for the direction the team want to go...
Murray and Jakob and 12th for Rudy...
    Re-sign DeMar for reasonable price...
With cap space left sign veterans Lowry and Batum...

    Lowry/Jones
    White/Walker
    DeMar/Vassell
    Keldon/Batum
    Rudy/Eubanks

Honestly Jakob can guard on the perimeter and Gobert can’t. Plus Jakob is signed to a bargain contract. All he needs to do is improve as a free throw shooter and he will be excellent and probably the one position I think the Spurs are solid on.

A go to move in the post couldnt hurt either. He did unveil that floater in the paint though

What? He'd be the starter on every team in the ECF and WCF except Phoenix. He's easily one of the best centers in the league and that's without a great post game and poor free throw shooting. When you look at the on/off numbers, he's actually the best player on the Spurs. Sure his impact is mostly on the defense, but there is no doubt that teams would love to get their hands on this guy after the season he had. His ability to switch on shooters on the perimeter alone makes him a highly valuable commodity.

One thing is for sure Gobert and Poodle will never get it done in the playoffs you can add Simmons to the list with Bigs who have no outside shooting at all. You can’t play good teams with 4 on 5 on the offensive side of the ball and expect to win

Why? Dude plays small. Did you see him against the Clips? He doesn't have the kill mentality. We have enough of those players already.

I agree with the OP. With all of the amazing shooters we have, along with our elite perimeter defense, the last missing piece to a championship is a defensive minded center with limited offensive skills.

    Go get him Pop!!

Ayton can't shoot, but he can fill the lane and dunk. And he's in the NBA finals and a key contributor. A big doesn't have to be a great offensive player. If the big is a great defensive player and can guard guys on the perimeter and finish as a garbage guy around the rim, that's all they need to do. Jakob is the perfect playoff big because he can block shots in the paint and switch on the perimeter. That means he can't get played off the floor like Lopez or Gobert once teams can scheme those guys into pick and rolls and get them stuck in switches on three point shooting guards. There are only 2-3 centers in the NBA that are the main scorers in the playoffs for their team and you don't have to be that to help your team win a le as is evidenced by the fact that the center on either team in the finals is not the best scorer on their teams and Brook Lopez may not get many minutes because he can't handle switches onto the Suns guards. Jakob would have no problem doing that.

And it isn't 5-4 if Jakob is a roll man and he does that pretty good. He is also a quality passer and screen setter, so he is absolutely not a 5-4 type of player on offense. He is a contributor and he can get even better and you can see he is motivated to do just that. He is one of the bright sides for this San Antonio roster. He already improved as a free throw shooter from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. Expect that to continue. Centers don't have to be 3 point shooters to be effective in the playoffs. It's nice if they can do that, but there are other ways to be effective and he does a good job.

He got exposed big time in the playoffs. He has no offensive game and playoff performers simply draw a foul or float over the top of him. He is not how you want to spend your money of serious about winning a championship.

He could grow from this, and because of this situation we could get him relative with a reasonable price

He's not going to "grow" anymore, he's 29 he is what he is at this point. I like Gobert but anyone paying 35 million for a player with no offensive game is already ed from the get go. What is a reasonable price? You realize he just signed a max extension right? He is going to make 34 million next year. We'd have to gut our entire roster to add a rich man's Jakob Poeltl. No thanks

You undervalue him, you overextend his limitation, you overreact to the Utah Clippers series defeat, they collepse, their coach was not to be shown but it doesn't mean Gubert got exposed... If you have opportunity to bring best defensive player in the league who is also great roll man and a leader without giving nothing special you do it, that the best building block you can bring
