I keep coming back to Keon Johnson because he works so hard on the court. He's shorter than expected, and is raw in areas, but damn that motor.
Oh no i don’t mean that you need to take a good look at him. You are a nobody. Im talking about the Spurs taking a good look at him the people that can actually make a decision.

That would be Orlando. Not sure they'd take him, but he will likely go top 10. Thing is, this year? I don't know. Again, teams do headscratching stuff every draft.
Big board is strictly player ranking, their mock has him going #8, also Orlando.
and Kai jones has dropped a lot, now predicted at 26th
i personally don’t think we should draft Duarte because of his age due to the fact our team needs a franchise type player. Chris isn’t a franchise type player.
a player like Chris Duarte is perfect for a team who just missed the playoffs or lost in the 1st round but already has an established franchise player. He is the guy you plug right into a situation and he automatically can help your squad. Kind of like how Desmond Bane helped Memphis.
if we draft him of course I wouldn’t be mad because he seems like he will be a solid pro but I feel we could've gotten somebody to mold into the type of player we need and want them to be. Duarte of course will improve his game but by how much? Yes upside / potential gets many GM’s fired and sure things look nicer but our squad is in a situation where we need to swing for the fences, not get a single. Lol
That assumes Duarte’s baseline is an average 3 and D player. I think he’s more dynamic than that, and somewhat in the mold of Manu (who arrived on the Spurs at the age of 25) where he shows he’s a top player on the team right away. If he’s that, I think the expectation for him to improve is overblown. Of course I could be wrong about this, these are just my thoughts.
Duarte’s presence is felt in nearly every play.

damn. he's slowly gaining steam as a can't miss prospect because ppl know he's going to develop his long range game. Spurs are ed if so.
With Murray as the designated point-of-attack defender (one of the best in the league according to statistics) keeping pressure on the ball handler, forces them to make a sloppy pass to either Vassell or Duarte (who has elite anticipation skills and averaged 2 steals a game), and Poeltl shutting anything down inside… the defense would be quite formidable.
As I understand their process, they do their big board ranking purely off stats; there's really good reason for him to be there. I don't think he'll go that high, but I am hoping he drops to 12. (At which point, we should take him and run).

I wonder about the psychology of fans on this. What if Kai was consistently mocked late first round since the beginning? Would he have the same allure and would folks still want him at #12? Or will the consensus affect their thinking and instead force them to acknowledge his flaws rather than mask them? Mock drafts, scouting reports, etcetera with people’s abilities to think for themselves, to research for themselves. It could very well be that Kai turns out to be the Precious Achiuwa or Nicholas Claxton of this year, instead of the unicorn big that people are fantasizing about.
Correct. No reason to blindly follow their rankings when the methodology is unknown. The site does have its uses and is great for other things.

I've looked for info on how the Big Board is decided and can't find much, but I don't think it's solely based on stats-- otherwise guys like Luka Garza, Joe Wieskamp, and Matthew Hurt would be higher than they are.
I wonder if the spurs potentially shopping DWhite & dejounte means they could be targeting a guard in upcoming draft. Tre Mann? Josh Giddey? Davion Mitc ?
IMO, DJ would be blowing up on social media if an ounce of it were true.

To beat a dead horse, if Sengun is there, he has to be my pick at #12. The more you look at him, the more there is to like already. True, he doesn't work on every team. I think he'd struggle on Cleveland, for example, and I have no idea what Orlando's plan is right now, but pairing him with Melo and Hayward, etc., in Charlotte could be promising.
One thing that scouting videos rarely mention is that he draws fouls like crazy. True, NBA refs won't give him rookie calls, but NBA refs also have no idea what a foul is. Sengun has this slippery, lanky, slithery body that he knows how to put in the way of contact. It's not even Chris Paul-level flops, where it's so obviously bull . Sengun isn't flopping. He just has a knack for taking illegal contact and showing it, which leads to... a high free throw shooting rate. He shot over six FTs a game, and converts at over 81%. (Which makes me think he'll become a fine three-point shooter.)
Dude is also a great rebounder, taking in over nine a game. Over four of those are offensive boards! I also like how he doesn't hesitate getting into his post moves. He doesn't pound it for ten seconds like LaMarcus Aldridge before taking a fadeaway J. Sengun is rapid in starting his footwork and going for it. Defenders rarely have time to set up.
Question of course is if he gets nabbed earlier. Might be.
I also don't know whether the Spurs want him.
He's solidly my first pick.

The Spurs think that Murray is their leader (or at least one of them) going forward.
I can't imagine them trading him short of a complete teardown.
Sengun is one of those guys whose all over the map in the mocks.
Anywhere from 6th pick overall to early 2d Round.
