Are we winning or losing? You can only pick one
Why doesn't anyone ever bring up Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq when the Afghanistan war wasn't even close to being finished and Bin Laden was still alive? That was the first question I asked back in 2003 when the war was being debated.
Are we winning or losing? You can only pick one
Just like you wanted.
If anything, the rapid progress of the Talibans is proving the correctness of USA withdrawing. If there is not even the slightest resistance to this takeover, then it's unlikely there was any non-taliban future anyhow.
The Afghan government we've been propping up for nearly two decades is corrupt and unloved and something similar goes for military forces. Assuring stability in Afghanistan is essentially an argument for an indefinite US presence, ditto keeping the US safe from "terrorists and Islamic extremism."
If twenty years of US occupation and fighting have failed to create the conditions for peace and stability, how many more would be needed?
(hater just wants to see Biden and the US burn. pure spite, principle and conscience-free.)
foreign policy-wise, more continuity than change from Trump to Biden so far
https://econospeak.blogspot.com/2021...gn-policy.htmlYes, as an American who supported the original invasion of Afghanistan 20 years ago to overturn the Taliban and end support for al Qaeda who did the 9/11 attack two decades ago, I am also frustrated that we did not get the heck out once the Taliban were overthrown. But it remains unclear why we did stay then, especially given that the W. Bush admin turned to invading Iraq. Latest I have checked it seems that it was Rumsfeld who played the key role in deciding that that the US stay in Afghanistan, even as that admin basically gave up on getting bin Laden.
So this should not be a partisan issue in the US. Pres.Biden long ago, including as Obama’s VP, led opposition to increasing efforts in Afghanistan. He accurately understood that this was an ultimately bad situation to get more deeply involved in, And he then made it clear he thought we should be getting out.
That was the position of Biden’s predecessor, Trump, who also called for the US leaving Afghanistan. He steadily reduced the US troop presence, and negotiated a final full withdrawal. But variouhis advisors held him back from effectuating the final withdrawal, leaving that to his successor. But what was left was not sustainable.
There are other areas where Biden seems to be following Trump policies. These include his reluctance to rejoin the JCPOA Iranian nuclear deal, which he promised to do, and he should have done. But now there is a new hardline president in Iran in reaction to just this, the failure of Biden to rejoin the deal. This is simply awful.
The list is long, and I frankly do not get why Biden has held back on so much of this. So, he has yet to remove almost any of the stupid garbage Trump tariffs. He has if anything made Trump’s prohibition of receiving refugees from abroad harder. And he is all in on Trump’s Afghanistan policy, which looks now to be a total humanitarian disaster. But the GOP is already falsely claiming the disaster will all be Biden’s fault, not Trump’s.
Republicans have f.cked up the entire the region for decades, invading countries, supporting coups, putting embargos on countries...
You wanted likewise the moment Trump kicked Clinton's ass. You've nary room, Winester. Nary.

Hussein was in there for a healthy portion of that time, buster brown. When you with countries, or, even fellow Americans like we've done, then turn your back and go on vacation thinking they ain't gonna take vengeance, you're tragically mistaken.
, our own Timothy McVeigh taught that.
Let us proceed...
Nah, I hope he is stupid enough like Shillary and leaves them there and they get killed so Biden's sinking approval rating falls like a rock far below Trump's worst.
McVeigh had the right idea, but the wrong execution. Should have done what he did in Quantico or D.C., not OKC......
The offending F.B.I. & ATF were run to ground in OKC not D.C..
Sorry but this is absurd thinking, what instability and violence was there on Afghanistan in the 90s? Sure the Taliban are fundamentalist s, but why would occupation and fighting from anyone create peace and stability? Let alone the US with it's track record??!
The us should have never gone there, Afghanistan didn't ever so anything to the US, 911 was a bunch of saudis the fact they took refuge in the afghani mountains NEVER justified the invasion of aghanistan and all of the needless innocents murdered to appease US broken ego, peace and stability never had anything to do with it
How did they improve their kids lives, pray tell???
Of course you have no consideration for the thousands of children killed, wounded, raped, with mental health issues from living through twenty years of war (or the thousands that will die from mines, ordinance, contaminated water and food supply for the next 50 years)
Yeah you really won you ing piece of , you won another 100 years of jihad from the middle east and disgust from the rest of the world, you
I agree with all of that and objected to going to war there for pretty much the same reasons in 2001.
Joe Biden is going to gain a few million new voters for taking the troops out. The American people are ing tired for being in A for 20 plus years.
