The level of desperation is sad. The imagery of this is going to be way worse than Saigon and perhaps the consequences as well, but support has run out to stay there.

Even most republicans aren't trying to argue for staying indefinitely -- they just claim the would have perhaps withdrawn "differently" which counts for nothing without explaining how things would have actually turned out differently.
